Yahoo! Music, Dec 20, 2000 3:00 pm PST
(12/20/00, 3 p.m. ET) - Robert Buck, guitarist for 10,000 Maniacs, died at the age of 42 yesterday afternoon (December 19) due to liver failure. His mother and stepfather were by his side at the University Of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Band members have passed along thoughts and prayers to his family.

Buck penned some of the Maniacs' greatest songs such as "What's The Matter Here" and "Hey Jack Kerouac." There's no word on whether or not the band will carry on, and the band last played live November 6 at a rally for Hillary Rodham Clinton at Buffalo State College.

Funeral arrangements are currently being solidified.
