Thoughts on a world of chance from David G. Schwartz

"Las Vegas is really Devil's Island - with privileges. We're three hundred miles from anywhere. We watch people come and go every day. After they're gone, we're still here.... There are no releases from Devil's Island, only paroles. And almost everyone ever paroled violates that parole and is back here. If you think I'm wrong, leave town. Then see how quickly you return."
