B2K, Ashanti, Nelly Win Kids Choice Awards

Music, Apr 14, 2003 3:00 pm PDT(4/14/03, 3 p.m. ET) -- B2K, Ashanti, and Nelly were among the music acts who won accolades at Nickelodeon's 16th Annual Kids' Choice Awards on Saturday night (April 12). B2K was named favorite music group, Ashanti was dubbed favorite female singer, and Nelly took on the honor of favorite male singer. Additionally, No Doubt received the favorite band award, Avril Lavigne's "Sk8ter Boi" was named favorite song, and actor/rapper Will Smith was bestowed the wannabe award.
Smith shared the worst advice his mother ever gave him. "The worst advice she ever gave me was, 'Honey, stop that rapping nonsense and go to school,'" Smith said.
Amanda Bynes and Adam Sandler were the big winners for the night. Bynes was named favorite movie actress for Big Fat Liar, and favorite TV actress for The Amanda Show and What I Like About You. Sandler took home two "blimp" awards as the winner in the favorite movie actor category and as the favorite voice from an animated movie for 8 Crazy Nights.
Twenty-two million kids cast online votes for the awards.
Rosie O'Donnell hosted for the seventh consecutive year.
Celebrity participants included Jim Carrey, the target of the show's signature "sliming," Cameron Diaz, Brad Pitt, and Kelly Clarkson.
