"Bobby's shoulder is shot," Bad Religion frontman Greg Graffin tells LAUNCH. "It is a rotator problem, and it is difficult for him to raise his arm above the level of his shoulders. This precludes him from raising his arm to hit the crash cymbals at all."
Graffin adds, "He needs an operation and some very serious rehabilitation, and he told us he feels his career is over."
The band expressed its sadness in a note posted on its official website (badreligion.com). "Bad Religion has lost one of the truly great punk drummers of all time," the note reads.
Make-up dates in Europe are anticipated some time around October to coincide with the release of the follow-up to the group's 12th album, last year's The New America. "Thanks to all the fans and promoters who will bear with us through this most unfortunate time," the group writes. "We promise that we won't let you down."
