A spokesman for the Lasher Funeral Home in Woodstock said that the service, which begins at 2 p.m. ET, could run from two to three hours and would be an informal gathering, allowing those in attendance an opportunity to share personal memories of the late musician. The Bearsville Theater can accommodate up to 300 people. A spokesperson for the funeral home said they have been inundated with querying phone calls from across the United States and Canada. There are also planned private funeral services for close friends and family members.
Though the cause of Danko's death has not been determined, Ulster County Medical Examiner Dr. Walter Dobushak said Saturday (Dec. 11) that all indications were that he died a "simple, natural death." An autopsy performed Friday evening (Dec. 10) revealed nothing out of the ordinary, but toxicology tests and a microscopic examination of tissue samples could help to pinpoint the cause of death. Test results could take up to two weeks.
