Latin rock band from Argentina Bersuit Vergarabat was formed in 1987 by singer Gustavo Cordera, drummer Carlos Martin, keyboardist Juan Subirá, bassist Pepe Céspedes, and guitarist Charly Bianco, who were previously playing under the name of Henry y la Palangana, changing its name to Bersuit Vergarabat in May of 1989. After singer Ruben Sadrinas, guitarist Oscar Righi, and keyboardist Raúl Pagano joined in, the band made its debut album, called Y Punto, followed by Asquerosa Alegria and Don Leopardo. After Gustavo Santaolalla produced Libertinaje in 1998, Bersuit Vergarabat started touring Latin America, Spain, and the U.S.; the group performed in front of 50,000 people at Buenos Aires' downtown by the end of 1999. A year later, Hijos del Culo was released. ~ Drago Bonacich, All Music Guide
