Bopping Bebop Free Jazzing MP3s!
From guitarists with thoughts of Wes Montgomery and Charlie Christian on their minds to crooning divas worshipping at the altar of Sarah Vaughan and Ella Fitzgerald, jazz is all you need to know.
Consider American music forms: punk rock, the real American deal for sure, though one could argue that the Sex Pistols and the Damned did it better than Patti Smith and the Stooges. Rock and roll: yes, sure, from Elvis to Buddy Holly to Creedence Clearwater Revival to Moby Grape. But again, the UK upped the ante with Led Zeppelin and Cream. Death metal? Okay, Florida's got it covered, though Sweden is darker, and more dangerous. Metal? The US doesn't compare with the likes of Black Sabbath or Judas Priest. So what do you have left to rebel against? Jazz is still done better in the US than in the UK, though freewheeling improvisationalists from Sweden, Italy, France, and various Middle Eastern countries are injecting a much needed blast of cross current energy into jazz's ancient mix.
So...here's a cross section of global jazz, Yahoo Music! style.
