MP3s: Paris’ Sweet ElodieO, Soft And Silly With Barcelona’s Vladimir
Parisian born ElodieO is currently hitting her stride on New York's NuBlu scene, and she looks to conquer the same hipster club demographic that adores jet setting acts like Brazilian Girls and Kudu. But ElodieO's music spans the decades, not just the oceans. Hers is a bittersweet blend of Tricky and Francoise Hardy, Massive Attack and Claudine Longet, wacky electronic-glitch eruptions with whispered vocals reminiscent of a straitjacketed Bjork.
"Cuckoo" is prime ElodieO, our mynah bird chanteuse whispering and warbling about acting stubborn as a thesaurus of electronic treatments dance below, around, and through her. A burly 4/4 beat drops in and out, Kylie Minogue worthy synths dance like drunken Tweety Birds, loops ricochet and prance like smiling angels. But ElodieO's voice is undeniably the focus, even as the production threatens to ditch her overboard.
"La Mer" starts out like a nutty samba jig, then slowly opens a hole in the sky through which ElodieO enters, cooing, whispering and finally singing as the beat straightens out and slaps us silly.
Totally electronic, but as warm and fuzzy as a St. Bernard pup, ElodieO's Stubborn is classic pop, dance evolution disc and balm to the senses rolled into one.

Vladimir's Electrobohême: Inspired Barcelona duo Vladimir finds a new wrinkle in crackly beats and pieces. Combining soothing vocals with hook laden choruses, Vladimir retains an ambient, windblown feel that rubs against my aching head like a soft kitty cat. Kitty, kitty?
