As MTV pulls the plug on TRL once and for all, Burner counts down the top moments from the show.

Plus: Britney's new promo shots, Shania Twain is back, and Kanye is lonely--who should he date next?

I saw that episode of TRL when the Backstreet Boy's where on. I miss those days.

Good riddance to TRL. Hopefully, MTV and VH1will soon follow. What began as a great ideal imploded years ago.

MTV is the biggest fail on TV, VH1 is getting there trust me. It strayed away from it's true meaning...MUSIC. Now it's plagued by reality [scripted] BS. Plus, music quality has gone down the manure pipe as well so I guess it's fitting.

Damn, I wish I was born in the 1980's so I could've lived through the best times in MTV a little more, I came along just as it was declining...screw TRL...all it ever played was crap, except for Rihanna.

i still have no idea why thier getting rid of TRL

maybe its just because they were running out of hosts :D

guitar demon, your right 100% MTV lost it's way. i did watch in the 80's and it was great music all day and video's.None of the BS like now days.People have all the reality they need right now in America and a good music and video show would be really great Good music can change a person's mood and help forget what might be going on in their real life just by listening to good tune's....Rocker's of America are still Rockin' But we would LOVE too have Our MTV BACK of the 80's...Where ROCK RULED....

i feel the same way..i was born in the late 80's but i still watched mtv in the 90's..and i mean i watched it!!!! thats the first and last thing i did...and like some of you have said..MTV was about music..now its just dumb reality that arent really even interesting..and all the music is gone...trl got boring anyways!!!..wish mtv would go back to how it was!!!

7. MIKE B -
screw that mtv has not lost it's way 80's are over no more stupid big hair bands yea some of the music was good but times change 80's are dead there not enough 80's fans to keep mtv just 80's that would be gay and dumb 80's was ok but not the best and it's for certin 80's would not save mtv

TRL failed for a couple of reasons: they only showed 15 second clips of videos, their main demographic gets out of school the minute the show airs, they changed hosts once a current hosts looks too old, etc......oh well....

9. Sharon -
I'm glad to see TRL go. I remember the episode where Britney Spears made her first appearance to the TRL studio when Carson Daly was hosting it. Hopefully MTV will return to showing MUSIC! VH1 is a bit better, but not by much. I wish that channel would get rid of their recycled reality shows.

10. Terry -
omg mike B. you are an idiot. no one is saying bring back the 80's music. They are saying bring back the constant videos they had in the 80's, but with more current music.

Honestly, I used to (past tense) be addicted to TRL. Of course, that was before I turned 18. I don't think it was a bad show, but when combined with all their other reality-type shows, TRL became just another BS show. I don't even watch MTV anymore because of that.

12. bebe -
tv just isn't the same anymore. all of these reality shows are starting to ruin tv.

man i wish i was born in the '80s too jus so i could be watchin jovi on mtv 24/7... mtv has totally lost it's way... these (scripted) reality shows are totally meaningless and bring "MUSIC TV" totally to shame... who wants to watch a group of people who don't even know how to spell "reality"... ughh... but i love to watch nocturnal state & top 20, at least there's 2 good things, but i can't stay up till 2 A.M. every night!!!!!

MTV and VH1 are posta be all about music but they dont play any music!!! The only one that is for music and still plays music is CMT!!! what happened to having MUSIC on MTV instead of it being all about little kids dating shows??

15. jim -
MTV is a prime example of what happens when you take the art out of entertainment. When you have 60 year olds reading flow charts to decide what people want to see/hear instead of actually listening to the people and their desires, you get TRL. When you allow artists to perform, you get what MTV was back in the 80's.

Also, MikeB, when you're in English class, LISTEN to the teacher. Friggin idiot. Ever hear of a thing called PUNCTUATION? Makes reading even your yammering much easier. People might even listen to what you have to say.

I dont see how the producers of MTV can even keep the name of MTV for its once popular hit show . They should just change the name to RTV for Reality Television!!! MTV is NOT music television anymore. PUT THE MUSIC BACK INTO MTV!! And the ratings will go back up. REALITY shows are B.S. and dont belong on MTV. They are immature, meaningless, STUPID and BORING!!! Who wants to watch that CRAP????
PLEASE PUT THE MUSIC BACK IN MTV. I grew up in the 80's when MTV was AWESOME b'cause back then it consisted of nothing BUT videos and countdowns to the top videos and classsic videos plus the current hits also. I dont watch MTV anymore. MTV SUCKS!!!!

17. Sara -
I hope they change their name then because that was the last thing on mtv that had anything to do with music...how about RTV? You know, Reality TV?

18. Yahoo! Music User -
I have to agree with Robin!!!!! MTV JUST FLAT OUT IS GARBAGE NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it isnt MTV anymore Its RTV.... REALITY TV... I would love to see it gone before another reality show comes on. VH1 is just as bad... The only ones that show videos anymore is FUSE... GOODBYE TRL GLAD TO SEE IT HAPPEN FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!

I was barely a child when i watched MTV and that was in the early early 90s. Kinda sux that I didn't get to enjoy the music as much like others did, but I did used to always watch Carson Daily as the TRL host. I loved it back then. Then I turned 7 and never really watched MTV after, I barely watch VH1. All of the celebrity gossip and scripted reality television really bullshizz and wayyy overdone. Bores me to tears.

20. Baby G -
TRL couldn't have been THAT bad....it actually aired for 10 years. TEN YEARS! Can somebody please tell me five other shows that are on the air right now that have been around for 10 years?
...take your time....oh, and Oprah don't count LOL...;)
I totally agree that MTV should go back to being M-T-V..and play M-U-S-I-C!!!!
