OK, so '08 has been a mixed bag--on the one hand, we got Britney Spears and Axl Rose back, which you have to admit didn't look possible this time last year when Brit-Brit was shaving her head and Axl was still in hiding. On the other hand, those albums from U2 and Eminem we were hoping for will have to wait until next year, and Dr. Dre's Detox has now officially replaced Guns N' Roses' Chinese Democracy as the great lost album of our time.

But even in a year of ups and downs, the world of popular culture gives us plenty to be thankful for. Would the first half of the year have been nearly as amusing without the spectacle of a dreadlocked dude trying to sell the American Idol audience on Bob Marley songs? And would the summer have been nearly as hot without Rihanna jacking some moves from the Trent Reznor video playbook? And that's not even mentioning the hilarity of watching the women of Rock Of Love attack one another week after week.

All this and a chart-topping rapper who claims to be from outer space? Make some room at the Thanksgiving table for Blender Burner's Reasons To Be Thankful, 2009!
