Birdman, Framed
After the excellent reception to last week's Alan Jackson blog, we were strongly considering making Framed a country music-only affair. But, upon reflection, we decided it would be unfair to deny fans of other music forms of this most beloved of formats. That's why we're widely known as The Blog That Likes You!
Getting as far away from country as we can, then, it was 17 years ago that Birdman--aka Bryan "Baby" Williams--founded Cash Money Records in New Orleans. After signing a distribution deal with Universal Records in 1998, the label took off, especially with the Hot Boys, who featured Lil Wayne. And when Juvenile and B.G. of the Boys split amid accusations of money mismanagement, the label barely blinked, financially, as the Big Tymers picked up the slack and CEO Williams established his in-studio credentials, too, as Birdman.
This week's video is Birdman's latest, "100 Million Dollars," which features not only Williams but much of his Cash Money posse as well. In the guise of an action movie, the video wryly celebrates the ungodly riches the label has amassed over the years. We think you'll find it entertainment of the highest order!
1 - "Flipper be in the 'hood! I feel it!"
2 - "Dammit. I know there's an Applebee's around here somewhere."
3 - "Aquaman! Where is your Justice League now?!"
4 - "Wait! Don't forget the common recyclables!"
5 - "So what's it gonna take to get you into a red car today?"
6 - Shopping at the Money Store has never been easier!
7 - Few realize that Manbird has a pretty damned fine record label of his own!
8 - "As Birdman, of course, I have this power."
9 - "Wait! We're in Framed this week!"
10 - "You mean that Framed fool makes this much every week?!"
11 - "Still, I gotta say you Framed readers are fi-i-ine!"
12 - "The moral? If you're drivin' through Tennessee, you wanna be carryin' a little less than all the marijuana in the world. Take it from me, you just do."
