Bruce Springsteen, Framed

Posted Thu Feb 14, 2008 1:31pm PST by John Kordosh in Framed

We were pondering our video queue a few weeks ago--let's get a move on there, Miley!--when our reverie was interrupted by a ringing Framed phone.

"Hello, this is Framed, The Blog That Likes You," we said, as we must by contractual agreement with Y! Music.

"Framed?  It's me!" said the voice.

"Yes it is," we agreed. "But who are you?"

"It's me, Bruce. You remember," the voice said.

"Bruce Cohen? The guy we hung out with in high school?"

"No, no! Springsteen! The musician."

"Oh, hey, how's it going Bruce? Are you still writing songs and such?"

"I sure am! And, hey, I got something for you."

"Is it inhalable?"

"No, man, listen: I've got a new video. It's really great! I think it would be cool to run it in Framed!"

"Um... jeez... I dunno, fella. You know, we've got Miley to think about, and--"

"Aw, c'mon. You told me to give you a call when I had a new video out!"

"Yeah, but that was probably the Sambuca talking."

"C'mon, man. For old time's sake?" There was a note of pleading in the aged musician's voice, and we're a pretty famous soft touch.

"Well... I guess we could slip it into rotation after that great OneRepublic video. All the kids like them."

"Sweet! You're the best! You won't regret it, man!"

Yeah, well, we'll see about that.

1 - "Hello, readers and fans, and welcome to my video. I'm Bruce Springsteen!"

2 - "You may remember me from such hits as ‘Born In The USA,' ‘Born To Run,' and ‘The Bourne Conspiracy.'"

3 - "I was just kidding about that last one! But did you get it?"

4 - "My video director, Richard, tells me that this shot has no symbolic meaning whatsoever! OK then, Dick!"

5 - "Whoa!  Hope you folks aren't blinded by the light!"

6- "Did you get that? Blinded by the light? C'mon, is there anybody alive out there?"

7 - "As you can see, my video features some nice-lookin' girls. C'mon over here, baby, and I'll be glad to show you the rising, if you catch my drift."

8 - "And here's another babe. Where're you from, honey?"

9- "This jukebox has all of John Mellencamp's greatest songs! I guess that's why somebody tossed it here on the beach! Hey, now!"

10 - "Hey! Is this a Bruce Springsteen video or A Flock of Seagulls video?! Buh duh dump!"

11 - "Whoa! Baby, if I were in charge of the alphabet I'd put U and I together! Hubba!"

12 - "So, in summary, I'd have to say that being in Framed is the greatest thing that's ever happened to me! Don't forget to tip your waitress!"

Columbia Records employees keep getting older. But the interns stay the same age.

It sounds like The Boss has a two drink minimum at his shows now.

Looks like defamation to me. There's nothing to indicate that it's satire. To the casual fan, it's believable that it's Bruce Springsteen's commentary. To a big fan, it's clearly not Springsteen. If I were "Framed", I would pull this and consult with my lawyers before I got sued.

I like it and I am not a big Boss fan. The song is really good.

I am a big Bruce fan and I think it's great that he still puts out quality music. I saw him in Chicago years ago and that man was onstage for 3 and a half hours! By the way,are you quoting Springsteen or are these your words?

Cool video and song, love the NJ shore shots! Make me want to go to the shore and hang out!

He was once called The Boss, but he's not in re-hab, isn't insane, parinoid or a tempermental schizo, nor a suspected child molester or on drugs.. How does he keep doing it with out being weak like the other pop stars? Wait, I know, TALENT .. It's a gift not all the wannabe's will ever have. Like his music or not at your pleasure. To paraphrase a movie line... It's just music, Fokker !
