Creed, Framed

Posted Fri Mar 21, 2008 12:03pm PDT by John Kordosh in Framed

Ask any rock critic who's been the greatest band over the last decade or so, and they will unanimously say Creed. And that's because they made a secret agreement among themselves and get a kick out of spreading misinformation.

It is fair to say, however, that Creed, out of Tallahassee, Florida, had a huge impact during the late '90s and early '00s.  They sold over 30 million records, according to information posted by rock critics on Wikipedia.  After three multi-platinum albums, though, they broke up in 2004.

Now here, for the first time, Creed fans will learn the real reason for the break-up. The clues are inherent in their video for "My Sacrifice," off their last album, and we've taken the time to illuminate them. As always, Framed lives only in the service of you, the reader, so please enjoy both the video and the frames.

1 - "To this day, readers, I'm asked why Creed broke up. Please let me explain."

2 - "To a large degree, our band was comprised of morons. Here's our drummer, Scott, playing at a gig he booked in Venice, the City of Water. Jesus!"

3 - "And here's Mark Temonti, playing guitar in water over his waist. Um... that is an electric guitar, Mark."

4 - "Many times I asked the Lord why he had given me bandmates of such marginal intelligence. But, alas, there came no reply."

5 - "Amazingly, our fans were no better. Like, this groupie swam over to have me sign her breasts. Jesus, baby, get a clue, will you?"

6 - "No kidding, I felt like ending it all many times. And I'm not just talking about the band."

7 - "Oh. My. God."

8 - "I pleaded with the Lord, and asked Him why he had forsaken me, Scott Stapp."

9 - "But still I heard no answer. Our band had no more brains than the curs in the street...typified by the post-grunge beast seen here."

10 - "‘Give it up, Mark! You're playing in the freaking water!!' I said. But to no avail."

11 - "It was some consolation, I suppose, when I learned that fellow legendary vocalist Michael Stipe was having the same problems with his crew. But, ultimately, not enough."

12 - "And just then, I spotted something in the water! But what was it?"

13 - "A WWE and Creed fan! The worst combination!!"

14 - "My despair knew no bounds!"

15 - "And so, readers, that's why I had to move on. Had I stayed... heck, it might have driven me to drink!"

Disappointing. As a past Creed fan I was really expecting to laugh. Oh well. It is brilliance to play electric guitar in water!

He does have his solo work. That's almost his own band. It's just not a band. I'm not sure if he is still producing music. I haven't check

Love the opening paragraph. Truer words have yet to be spoken.

I like Creed the first few times I heard them. Then every song sounded the same. Scott Stapp's voice is depressing, lyrics are depressing.

Michael Stipe. ROFL.
