Alicia Keys, Framed

Posted Mon Jul 28, 2008 11:34am PDT by John Kordosh in Framed

Alicia Keys' biography almost reads like fiction. The (now) 27-year-old Keys appeared on The Cosby Show at the age of four. She started playing piano at the age of seven, with her favorite composer reputed to be Frederic Chopin. By the age of 16, she had graduated from high school as her class valedictorian. And at the age of 20, her first album, Songs In A Minor, had debuted at #1 in Billboard.

Ms. Keys, it would seem, was born to succeed, and she's kept on doing so. To date, she's sold over 30 million records and has won 11 Grammys. And so it is that Framed is quite happy to feature her video for "Teenage Love Affair" off of her 2007 LP, As I Am, an album that sold over a million copies in its first two weeks of release. According to Keys' website and fan club, the video is based on Spike Lee's 1988 film School Daze, and it's somewhat entertaining, although not wildly so.

The Framed bottom line? What do you guys think? Should we have never featured this video in the first place or are we masters of choosing videos? Are our captions getting incredibly better on a weekly basis? Shouldn't Framed, in fact, be elected President of the United States simply because our captions are so beyond-the-pale wry?

All things to consider!

1 - "Why, oddly enough, I'm very interested in promoting unprovoked war. How can I help you, Mr. President?"

2 - The stunned activists were silenced by the vociferous "Kill a Child" lobby!

3 - The annual "Walk of the Blind" is now--crazily!--synchronized!

4 - After two terms in office, President Obama was most proud of deceiving the nation and enslaving white America.

5 - Now it's the "terrorist shoulder bump" that all the kids are doin'!

6 - "...which proves that something external to the Universe couldn't have caused the Big Bang, and that you're ugly!"

7 - "So it was sevens that were ‘crazy,' right??"

8 - It was to be the Replacements' greatest gig yet!

9 - "You heard me. Pepperoni, ham, mushrooms and crank."

10 - "So I said to the professor, ‘Listen, fool, how many Grammys you got?!"

11 - "Hey, man! What happened to our agreement to dress like Bozo?!"

12 - "Just remember, readers: Framed is always ‘just for fun,' and would never, ever actually smear an artist or their fans!"

Number 4 caption is a little racist in a way. Sorry but doesn't sound appropriate but the other captions are funny.

yeah i saw the parts degrading Obama as racist too. this guy should get a real life. instead of trying to push his political agendas on music.

I also found number 4 to be very insulting. As African Americans we are the last race to want anyone enslaved because we know first hand how it feels. I do however find it very interesting that a caucasian person would want to try and paint Obama in this kind of light. I do believe that if we look back at the history of America we will find that Caucasians are the only race that truly profited off of the enslavement, hardwork and inventions of other races.

I agree number 4 is very insulting then again you are well aware of an offensive statement since you are of the caucasian race. African American of power wheather it's political or stardom have to continue to put up with this stereotype slander. this guy really need to get a life then again he probably have a great one since he is one who have benefited from enslavement and inventions of (Black folk). ps . be mindful all you caucasians we are not in a trance.

Are you people serious? This is a clever, funny blog. The fact that Obama would enslave the white race during his presidential career is ironic. Moreso, because it plays against the ridiculous claims the the Republican Party and conservative groups insinuate against Mr. Obama. I say write on, maestro!
