Natalie Grant, Framed

Posted Mon Aug 4, 2008 1:54pm PDT by John Kordosh in Framed

This week's video is probably the most disturbing to ever appear in Framed. Even though it's the work of Christian songstress Natalie Grant, the storyline--which involves the deaths of several characters, some of them children--may upset younger readers. Parents, take note!

Grant is a big star on the Contemporary Christian circuit, and has won the Gospel Music Association Female Vocalist of the Year three years running. This week's video, "In Better Hands," is from her Relentless album, which was released in February of this year, and still maintains a Top 10 spot on Y! Music's Contemporary Christian chart.

The vision of heaven presented by the video--a place where people wear white-on-white and smile a lot--is intriguing. Could heaven really look like that? And, if it does, can you simply leave?

As always, yours is the only voice that matters, so please post!

1 - It was fascinating to watch the Supreme Council of Ants ponder whether moving that rubber tree plant was even a good idea.

2 - "Is it possible that ‘handicapped access' is a meaningless, easily-ignored platitude?!"

3 - "What I'll be feeling if I don't get out of the way of that truck?"

4 - Natalie is justifiably proud of her many splendid Roc feeders.

5 - Sadly, Pez Ducks have been among the first victims of global warming.

6 - "Follow me, human child!  I can lead you out of this hellish video," said Gummo, The Sentient Bubble.

7 -  ...but, alas, the road to Bubbylonia is oft trod alone!

8 - "The League of Those Who Voted for Bush Twice" is finally going public with its feelings!

9 - "Why, because this is white people's heaven, my boy."

10 - She was pleased that her child would grow up and flourish in heaven, and then die.

11 - "Heaven's great! And we got to keep the Hummer."

12 - "Best of all, we don't have to burn in Hell for all eternity."

Christ claimed "I have come so that you might have 'life' and have it more abundantly. The gospel of John proclaims loudly that the kingdom of heaven is now. God's action in our lives in the here and now is the message -- not some 'pie in the sky' here after. These video do not proclaim the Christiam message as I understand it.

The Supreme Council is lost in endless debate! Now is the time for we, The League of Those Who Are Not Ants, to strike!

"Heaven
Is a place
Where nothing ever happens."

Thank you for proving the Talking Heads right.

Wow, I never knew forgiveness could be so condescending! Thanks for piping in for the Lord, Nat!

Why is it that when a Christian video is up on Framed most people only have negative things to say?

the most disturbing thing about this video is the horrifically unflattering outfit she's is wearing. she should be holding her own cardboard sign that says "i am trying to hide my huge butt"

who was the stylist here?

if this Video would've been for a rap artist or a singer there would've been nothing said be it be doing done by a CHRISTIAN Female singer there is a problem. Society has really lost it vaules. I pray that this video will help someone who has lost a loved one to get through it. apparently she is doing something right or the video producer since there is a discussion about it.

I don't see anything wrong with the video. Yes it is sad, but dying is apart of life and if you're a child or believe in Christ then you have nothing to worry about.

I don't see why everyone is so upset over this video. I agree, if it were a pop artist, rapper or some band that's popular then no one would have a problem with it. At least Christian music videos have meaning and make sense. Half the music videos on this site made by popular artist don't make any sense and have nothing to do with the song at all.

That's just my two cents. God Bless - Dustin

I love Natalie Grant and this video is beautiful! This song helped me turn my life around, and I thank God for it!

there are a lot of people suffering in the world today - the fact that Christ welcomes them to heaven with open arms means we can all be in better hands soon, no matter how good, or bad, we think we have it here. a pox on all you dunderheads who think you needs to make fun of this kind of stuff.

The amazing thing about Christ is that he died for the sins of ALL men. That includes people that persecute him. He also told his disciples that they would be persecuted. I say go ahead and say what you want, God works all things for good for those that love him and are called according to his purpose. Being in his hands is the best place you could be.

I love this song, video and Natalie!!!! She's a great role model. I look up to her! It's pretty sad, how everyone has to bring other people down, just so that they can feel good about themselves. These lyrics give people hope, and that's just what everyone needs. Once you put your faith in Jesus Christ, you are in better hands! To all who have nasty things to say about this video, I will pray that someday you will have the peace and love that True Christians have.

This song is being misrepresented. Life is hard. We ARE in better hands now, and in the afterlife to come!!

This video is meant to comfort people and it does. How exactly does it show people dying??? You have rap videos showing people dying and graphic sexual content. HOW IS THIS WORSE?? Natalie is a wonderful artist and I thank her for sticking with her beliefs and not selling out like others have. She sings about real life in this video and it is a comfort. She used death as the subject matter for her video but guess what? It’s a natural part of life and when you lose a loved one it’s nice to be reminded that they are safe with Jesus in heaven. And actually death, it’s not the topic of this song or even the video, the topic is about the love of God and how he is always there, even in our darkest hour to comfort us.
