Flobots, Framed

Posted Mon Jan 12, 2009 11:58am PST by John Kordosh in Framed
Welcome back to Framed, everybody, where the excitement is palpable! This week's guests are Denver's own Flobots, one of the most innovative bands of the last decade.

Flobots are an alternative hip-hop ensemble of community organizers who've released one LP--Fight With Tools--and two great singles, "Handlebars" and this week's featured video, "Rise."  (We urge you to check out "Handlebars" on Y! Music, too. It was tough to choose between the two.)

"Rise" offers an interesting vision of America, showing citizens actively helping other citizens, interlaced with shots of the band in concert and accompanied by a strong pro-peace message. It's evidently based on a Sean Hannity wet dream.

We kid! But with President-Elect Obama's inauguration just days away, we thought it was all, somehow, apt. We're interested in what you think of Flobots and "Rise," and look forward to reading your excellent posts!

1 -- "You'll need these if you plan on reading all the blogs!"

2 -- Well, what the heck...they were the elevator lobby.

3 -- "Why, yes. We will be ruling you from now on. Good question, though!"

4 -- "Ha ha ha. No, actually, 'video blogs written by drunks' wouldn't qualify."

5 -- "I don't get it. If he's strong enough to move the rubber tree plant, isn't he strong enough to move the guitar case, too?"

6 -- "Please. Everyone rise for the singing of 'L'Internationale.'"

7 -- The wily lefties proved no easy target for the avian flu!

8 -- "You mean the guy with the 'Destroyed From Within' sign is late again?!"

9 -- "See, son, daddy is signing over this future debt to you. All the daddies are doing it!"

10 -- "Suck if you're deaf? I suppose this would!"

11 -- "Die if Framed were any funnier? This must be a trick question."

12 -- "So, in summation, I believe it's clear that Gummo would've voted for Tommy Tomorrow."

Haha, nice on Kordosh! Nice band to frame too. Woulda loved to see Handlebars framed, but this one was still cool.

I especially like the relations to those tricky questions from last framed!
