Beyonce, Framed

Posted Tue Feb 3, 2009 11:24am PST by John Kordosh in Framed
Let's talk about Beyonce Knowles. How she's managed to not appear in our weekly blog, until now, is a mystery. She has had, after all, three #1 albums and five #1 singles...not to mention five Grammys, myriad film roles, and a marriage to the great rapper, Jay-Z.

Did we mention she's really good-looking?

Yes, Beyonce has it all. And on her latest album, I Am... Sasha Fierce, she shows her fans two sides of her personality, revealing Sasha as her assertive, partying alter ego. One disc of the two-record set's is "Sasha's," the other's is "Beyonce's."

Two of the videos from the record are in Y! Music's Top 20 videos as of this writing.  We've chosen "If I Were a Boy," a "Beyonce" track, and a role-reversing video that shows the contemplative songstress explicating gender attitudes like nobody's business!

Well, certainly not ours.

We think you'll enjoy this affecting ballad. And, if not, we hope you enjoy the still pictures we've pulled from the video, all professionally captioned for your enjoyment. Please let us know what you think of Beyonce, her video, this blog, and everything else. That's why we're here!

Important blog note! We're proud of our readers, many of whom appear to be high school graduates, and their excellent posts!  Every few months we take time out to reply to some of the best, so please enjoy this lively give-and-take before we get to this week's captions!

From the "Ben Folds Five": "I would laugh, but I want to be referenced at the start of your article, John! That's right! I only posted this for attention!"--D33PPURPLE

Framed replies: Did you say something?

From the "David Cook Framed": "First and foremost john, your an idiot! Yes you are a critic and everyone has a right to their opinion, but yours goes way over the top even for a critic....David Cook was the declared winner, for his TALENT!"--Yahoo! Music User

Framed replies: But we read somewhere that American Idol's been fixed since day one!

From the "Britney Spears Framed": "framed- ur complaining about brit, but then ur writting an article about her & her comback....hmmm, it seems like the media is just as obsessed w/ her as the fans are."--osorio_07_09

Framed replies: Framed never complains about Brit. Framed really enjoyed her video. ur a hater.

From the "Rascal Flatts Framed": "John, how do I contact Gummo's agent? Also, what planet is he originally from? I am interested in developing a series for the Sci-fi channel that would feature him and his many schemes to enslave mankind and such. Please post this info in your next installment of this ever popular blog. Happy holidays!"--Yahoo! Music User

Framed replies: As shown in Framed #54 (Men Without Hats), Gummo hails from fabled Bubbylonia. To contact The Sentient Bubble directly, go to the nearest mall, church or crowded movie theater and sing "Your friends don't dance, and if they don't dance, then they're no friends of mine" in a loud voice, over and over again.

From the "Jason Mraz Framed": "Okay, I like Jason Mraz ALOT, and that was pretty stupid to make fun of him like that. And the article was COMPLETELY stupid. But I have to admit, captions 5, 11, and 12, were oddly funny. ESPECIALLY 12 . . . lololol"--Mo

Framed replies: So, we win, right?

From the "U2 Framed": (To answer your question), "What classes and extracurricular activities would be useful in preparing yourself to work at Framed, thus showing everybody?

"'How To Skip School' and 'Finding the a perfect Job for Highschool Drop-outs' are a must. Then, ofcoure, you have to take 'Advanced Calculus' and something about vertexes."--D33PPURPLE

Framed replies: And also something about vertices, Purple.

From the "Pussycat Dolls Framed": "as for the 'framed' part of this blog, well done. I am no PCD fan, so the fact that I read all the captions lends credit to your humor! I can't stand the PCD primarily for the way they portray themselves, not to mention the fact that I am NOT a fan of this genre of music. That being said, I have to shamefully admit, I think I kinda like this song....but you didn't read that."--kung_fu_mama

Framed replies: And now we didn't read it twice!

Important blog note #2!  This week marks our 1000th caption in Framed. Many thanks for reading!

5 -- "I'm letting you go this time 'cause the 'Bush/Cheney '04' sticker brands you manly."

6 -- Looking for an extramarital relationship?

7 -- Chillingly, the officers agreed that they would now kill time!

8 -- "What makes conversation even greater is we can't hear each other. Am I right?"

9 -- "Mmmpf ahm pruhwwmmmm."

10 -- "Feel the same if you were a boy? Um, no."

11 -- "Girls, let me show you how to give your lobes the workout they need!"

12 -- "Thank God women can always fall back on waitressing, our natural talent."

Whoa, you actually responded to that comment I made about wanting to get referenced at the beginning of a framed. It appears I DID say something!

How did you know I said something? Did gummo tell you? That's Cheating!

Anyways, avg. framed. And Isn't framed #12...somewhat sexist? Ah well, who cares? Afterall, there were 'subtle' references to nazis in the first framed!

Thank you for printing my comment for "Rascal Flatts Framed". However, your advice really stinks!! I got the holy crap beat out of me in the mall I chose to sing that stupid song you suggested. Right before I became unconscious, I think I did see Gummo, though! Oh, and by the way, one of my vehicles is just like the car in frame 5 of this Framed segment. Could that be a sign from Gummo, perhaps??.........To be continued.

Hey, John, guess what? This dude that was talking to a Coke machine outside of Target told me he could take me to Bubblyonia to discuss developing my Sci-Fi Channel series starring Gummo with the sentient bubble himself. Thank you for always being so kind and helpful, John.

I think beyonces "if i were a boy" song and video was awesome. It shows the turn around on men of how we feel when they do what they do to women. How some men are shallow and mean and are more focused on themselves but when they lose that person is when they realize it or sometimes never if he is a real [profane] lol. I can guarantee if a women really pulled that off the man would have left or stayed if he really loved her. The decision many women face all the time. It was a smart song with great and very true lyrics!

god what is up with people trying to frame famous (and good) people?! The last time I heard they're humans just like us! and it's not Gender crap! boys and girls cheat that's life and it's nice to know that someone can sing about it because it happens everywhere. This is not because im like some phyco number one fan (I only have a few song I like by her) i'm just saying give her a little credit and other artists credit because they work hard to get big hits like these!

12. Yahoo! Music User -
you no whats genderistic! you treating woman like crap and saying that they should do their "natural talent" waitressing your a gender discrimator! discrimanating woman and their rights! SHUTUP IF YOU GOING TO SAY BEYONCE IS A GENDER DISCRIMANATOR WHEN YOU OBVIOUSLY ARE! BY THE WAY YOUR'E ALSO DISCRIMINATING MEN BECAUSE SOME MEN ARE GOOD AT WAITRESSING!

13. Ashanti -
You shouldn`t be talking about Beyon`ce because she`s a very respected and achieved singer/actress.STOP FRAMING ARTIST THAT HAVE`NT DONE ANYTHING.

14. Tim -
"Subtle" Nazi references?

Color me intrigued.

Hello John... I don't know if you will see this, but this is my plea for a Leona Lewis Framed... I love Leona and I know you only use the best artists here... She's one of them... I'm betting you could come up with some niiiiice captions for some frames from her videos.

18. Yahoo! Music User -
Beyonce this. Beyonce that. Beyonce is overexposed and overhyped. The sooner she diappears from the music and celebrity scene the better.

19. Dawn -
Take notes children. Only in America can you be totally talentless, overexposed, and pathetic to the point of inflicting pain on Joe Publics ears and still get paid for it. If Beyonce was a boy, (hopefully someone would tell him to shut the f**k up and leave the singing, dancing and designing to people with real talent. Because, none of the above are your destiny child!!!!!!!

Okay! Here we go. I like Beyonce'. She is very talented, I like her videos. And I think her and Jay Z make a really cute couple. However, I do have to say that I was a little disappointed by her approach at the Inaugrial Ball. I don't think she should've sung Etta James' song; unless it was done as a duet. Between the two. She wouldn't like it if someone younger than her sung one of her songs at such a large occassion. And I was really upset at her approach to the whole ordeal. I thought she was better than that.
