Enrique Iglesias, Framed

Posted Mon Mar 16, 2009 11:23am PDT by John Kordosh in Framed
Hello, readers, and welcome to Framed, America's fastest-growing blog. This week our video is Enrique Iglesias' "Hero," and it's one of our favorites.  Here, at last, we have a music video with an actual plot, real actors--Jennifer Love Hewitt and Academy Award nominee Mickey Rourke are prominently featured--and probably even a script. We've been wondering whether anybody took these things seriously besides us.

It was made way back in 2001, of course, when society had enough money to finance these things. Still, we wish more artists would take their video-making responsibilities as seriously as Enrique did here.

"Hero" was a big hit, especially in the wake of 9/11, and after Enrique performed it live on TV for the "America: A Tribute to Heroes" national broadcast. It eventually spent 15 weeks atop Billboard's "Adult Contemporary" chart, and hit #3 on their Hot 100.

In the video, Enrique seems to be a criminal who's ripped off his own gang. Ms. Hewitt plays his girlfriend, and Rourke a mob boss who wants revenge. A confrontation between Enrique and Rourke leads to Enrique's death (!), while Jennifer looks on, sobbing. It's like a little four-minute movie.

So please enjoy the stirring "Hero" as well as our captions to the various still frames we pulled. As always, your opinion is valued beyond belief.

1 -- "We will make sweet love. And a cheesy video. These things, I pledge."

2 -- Wow. The economic collapse hurt Enrique not at all!

3 -- "...whose fleece...was...white as...snow. By God, I've mastered it!!"

4 -- "Metaphors. What did the director mean??"

5 -- But would clothing her in money lead to an early withdrawal?

6 -- Obama's socialist dream of an energy-starved America would soon be a reality!

7 -- Daring the tabloids to renew their war on her body, Jennifer bravely shows her cellulite-ridden chin!

8 -- "OK, men, fan out. And remember, we're looking for a dandified singer trading on his father's good name."

9 -- The new NFL signal for "The field goal is good, but just barely" has left pundits wondering.

10 -- "Under Earth's yellow sun I can also fly!" thought an amazed Gunno, The Sentient Weapon.

11 -- "It couldn't have been him, Enrique!  Pumpkinhead was two weeks ago!!"

12 -- And just then, Jennifer remembered her own career as a professional singer.

Hahaha, nice Kordosh.

To tell the truth, this blog has inspired me beyond belief, see, I'm planning on making a video that references Gummo. As soon as I upload it to youtube, you too Kordosh can watch it, and maybe even frame it, even though it probably won't have music...!

BTW #12 was the best.

We are all so glad Gunno is back and earning an honest living. It looks like his rehab was successful.

Now, the Obama comment was a bit harsh. What's so [profane]ing wrong with socialism?! REAL socialism, I mean, not the thing the Nazis and the Communists claimed to be.

I have always loved this song, and bought the CD just for this song! I just think he is so hot!! But so is Jeniffer Love Hewitt. Leave the poor girl alone already!!! Celulite??? Have you women looked at yourselves in the mirror lately??? HAH! She is beautiful and talented, and the video is really good. It tells a story like any good video should. FYI: Every woman on the face of the earth carries cellulite "cells". They are a fact of life, sorry! Men don't carry them though. Crap. So unfair. But we have no power over it.
