Michael Jackson, Framed

Posted Mon Sep 21, 2009 11:16am PDT by John Kordosh in Framed

A confession, readers: when Michael Jackson died, we had no intention of "going to town" on his videos.  Like many, we liked Mike.  He was a strange character and, in many ways, a troubled guy, but certainly extremely talented. We saluted his many victories, threw up that McCartney/Jackson video, and figured that was that.

But no. The numbers started coming in, and they were astonishing. Michael's albums were dominating the Top 10. Michael's videos, ditto. It turns out people freaking loved Michael Jackson...his songs, his videos, everything. As Y! Music's own Paul Grein reported in Chart Watch: "At the peak of his posthumous sales, Jackson had seven of the week's 20 best-selling albums and nine of the week's 30 best-sellers."

We thought about it for awhile, then decided we'd be foolish to not feature his videos here in Framed. After all, we're very likely the internet's best-loved music video resource, and absolutely the internet's best-loved funny-captions-to-music-video resource. Don't we have an obligation to be in synch with the public's mood?

We decided we did. That's why this week's video is Michael's "Black or White," off the Bad album. Next week's video will be a zesty, brand new offering from America's greatest reunited band, but--for this week--let's enjoy Michael Jackson's amazing 11-minute-long spectacular!

1-- "Sadly, I've failed to discover a space weapon powerful enough to defeat the mighty Pumpkinhead," mused Gummo, The Sentient Bubble. "Yet I must return to Earth in haste to investigate these rumors of a superstar in the company of Bubbles."

2 -- God's many failures--for example, Canadian football--continue to vex the human race.

3 -- Few realize that there's also a Negro Bobblehead League.

4 -- "Wha...?!! Father several of your children in the future?!!"

5 -- Slash boldly decided his next quest would be for the fabled Fountain of Taste!

6 -- "What the hell are those ants doing over there? That's a goddam rubber tree plant."

7 -- "Health care! Free! Umgawa!"

8 -- "Hear me, spirits! My grandfather, like his grandfather before him, was really, really bad!"

9 -- "Slow down, Dobbin! The Ann Coulter Lookalike Contest is an all-day event!"

10 -- "A Canadian Y! Music?!! And bereft of Framed?!!!"

11 -- "Da! We make the big circle and then we take the anti-missile system out Poland! Ha ha ha!"

12 -- By the time science discovered that kids were getting bigger because of fast foods...well, it was simply too late.

Embrace all people....great concept.....Love the song. Micheal needed to embrace himself. Love is a drug.

People couldn't stop making fun of Mike when He was alive. Now it's time to jump on the band wagon. Do we like Him now because He's gone? Or is it just because it is a popular thing to do???? Pretty Sick Society. Great video and song.

Black or White was on the Dangerous album, not Bad.

Mikie was just that, a child at heart. And sometimes it beees like that. Big on music....small at social skills. But still a great entertainer and that's what it's all about. You put your right hand in you put your right hand out and shake it all about.......

Well Kordosh, you do not have to make an excuse to frame another Micheal Jackson song....He's popular even though he's not here but maybe he's a grateful dead fan.LOL

I thought you were going to say "2 -- God's many failures--for example, George Wendt--continue to vex the human race." But then I kept reading and laughed heartily. I loved 6 and 12. Stupid Ants and Obese Children are my two favorite subjects of comedy and you mastered it in this week's Framed. It's good to be back John.

Kordosh, please tell Gummo, I will kick Pumpkinhead's rearend for him, free of charge, and just in time for Halloween. In exchange, please tell him to return to Bubbylonia and leave us weak, puny earthlings in peace. Thank you.

No. 3 is the winner. The winner of hilarity!

I just hope Kordosh's definition of zesty does not mean corny, lame, or crappy. I guess I will just have to tune in next week to find out. The tension and apprehension is already mounting inside me.

Micheal was the first to grab his crotch. Now all the Rappers think it's bad/ Well he's bad he's bad and the whole world has to know that He's Bad. Love the dancing in the end of the video. Micheal had skills.

"That's why this week's video is Michael's "Black or White," off the Bad album"

This is wrong. "Black or White" was from the Dangerous album.

To #2 - I agree that many only jumped on the bandwagon and loved him again when he died. But trust me, not everyone's a hypocrite. Believe it or not, alot of people STILL loved him and his music over the years regardless of everything else. And he was still the most popular singer everywhere else in the world. It's sad that so many Americans dogged him out while he was alive. Pretty sick society indeed. But anyways, I've always loved this song and video, and yes, its from Dangerous not Bad.
