Velvet Revolver, Framed

Posted Mon Aug 13, 2007 6:13pm PDT by John Kordosh in Framed

There aren't too many supergroups still around, but Velvet Revolver may well qualify. With roots in Guns N' Roses and Stone Temple Pilots, VR's first LP, Contraband, was a certified hit. And now they've followed it up with Libertad, which is probably Spanish for "library."

The first single and video off the new disc is "She Builds Quick Machines," and this is one sweet video, readers.  It's a violence-strewn spaghetti western revolving around VR (cowboys all) rescuing an angel from a town inexplicably hostile to angels. The guys in VR are quite heroic in the video, much like I imagine they are in real life. I encourage you to watch it often.

Naturally, our main interest here at "Framed" is how many goofy frames we can milk,er, excellent stills we can pull from this stirring adventure for suitable captioning.  It's a weekly challenge, but VR and vid director Dean Karr have thoughtfully given us images galore, something we hope other pop music acts will emulate.  And damned soon.

1 - Sadly, Scott is unable to locate his career trajectory.

2 - Joining the ranks of Michael, Gabriel and Moroni is the Angel Hotbabe.  Hubba.

3 - "And I'll play David Bowie as a really old man.  It'll kick ass!"

4 - "Badges? We don't need no stinking badges!"

5 - Aha.  The Federales must be on our side of the picture.

6 - "OK, here's the plan.  Four words... ‘Rock Star: Velvet Revolver!'"

7 -   Nothing rocks more than Wall of Voodoo on vinyl!

8 - "Begone, gringo rocker. We built this ciudad on mariachi."

9 - Slash is on fire!!  No, wait, that's some other guy.  Um, Slash is smoking!!  That's it.

10 - "I am just a snake.  My name is Histah.  I can neither form thoughts nor articulate them."

11 - Is that our old friend Dealie Crankerson??!  He's the best!

12 - "You don't suppose God is pissed that we shot down a friggin' angel, do you??"

13 -  Not only is the price of gas going up, but the gas itself... !!

14 - The X-Men vow to not rest until Magneto explains whether his powers are psionic or purely physiological in nature!

I think Slash's scorching guitar licks may have melted Duff's face. Yikes!

3. Mandros -
Why? Why did they send her over anyone else?
How should I react? These things happen to other people
They don't happen at all
