Foo Fighters, Framed

Posted Tue Sep 4, 2007 6:05pm PDT by John Kordosh in Framed

We're pretty sure that a lot of readers have been asking: When is "Framed" gonna feature, you know, a real band?  And we hear you, readers, because "Framed" is The Blog That Likes You!

And it is for you that we turn our sights to the Grammy-Award winning Foo Fighters and their spankin' new video for "The Pretender."  Like all things Foo Fighterish, the video features their famous light touch, depicting our heroes playing the song in a big, empty warehouse, and then being assaulted by a S.W.A.T. team.  What's it all mean?  Heck if we know!  We checked out the lyrics, but they didn't make any sense, so we decided the video was probably the best possible video for this song.  That could ever be!

That's how good we are.  That's how good the Foo Fighters are.

Enjoy!

1 - Hey, kids!  Dave Grohl's back!

2 - Dave is not only a great musician, he's a great wide receiver!

3 - It's a rock truism that the ninth drummer is usually the keeper!

4 - What the... ?  Is it halftime already?

5 - When shrunk to an inch tall, the Foo Fighters can only play a little music.  Hello, is anybody out there?

6 - Incapable of disobeying his masters, the Golem looked for Foo Pacifists!

7 -  "I can also snatch atoms from midair!  This one's Argon!"

8 - "First the rock band!  Then those African-Americans trying to register to vote in Florida!"

9 -  "He'p!!  It's the colour and the shape!"

10 -  The tide is high.  But he's holding on!

11 -  The annual migration of the Monarch butterflies now actually goes through the Foo Fighters!

12 - "Darn you, Flipper!"

where's Gummo?

As I was watching the video I noticed that the camera was never on Dave's left. Also, referencing the Foo Fighters with the Foo Fighters! Brilliant. Oh well, looks like Gummo was M.I.A. (see what i did there?)

3. Tim -
Does this mean the Foos have fallen out of favor with Gummo, most just and kind of the Bubbles?

Woe to Grohl and Co. be this the case!

4. paulusw -

Dave is from my home town. He is so talented and is a well deserved front runner of his own band than someone else's. I love him and his band!

This is yet another amazing song put out by the Foo Fighters. The message really can be what you make it....Us against them...Good against evil...Yin Yang...Artist Vs. the Industry...or none of the above. It's just great music. The boys in the empty building, VS. the vice squad is awsome...the rage and atack durring the quietest moment of the song is powerfull...and the bloodbath is take your breath away fantastic. These guys just keep getting better every album. Hat's off....I am not worthy.

A complete visual surprise - after all the buildup of the cops contemplating smashing in a few heads, the response to their attack strikes you square in the guts - and then poses some interesting questions, like, do the band & the creators of the video think that we're getting to the "blood in the streets" point already? Are they suggesting it's time for a real live revolt? Would this video be shown in Burma?

(And I have to ask - am I the only one who first heard the first line of the chorus as "One of these things is not like the others?")
