Skinny Guy Chic
Some girls like jocks and others like preppies. We've always been fans of skinny musicians. Singers, drummers, pop idols — we're not picky, as long as they're lean and lanky. So we were taken aback when Oasis' Liam Gallagher recently announced his new clothing line, Pretty Green, with an anti-skinny rant. Luckily for us, there never seems to be a shortage of undernourished stars who do embrace skinny guy chic. Here are our picks for runt of the litter.
DAVID BOWIE
When it comes to skinny rockers, Bowie is our God, the gold standard, the king of kings. From David Jones to Ziggy Stardust to the Thin White Duke, Bowie rocked the androgynous bone-thin waif look like no other and still looks hot (and thin) today at 62.
ZAC EFRON
He definitely corners the slim pretty boy category
for the new millennium — wearing those skinny jeans better than just
about anybody of his generation. But will he age well and maintain that
skinny rock physique or we will ultimately buff up for some action
movie part and become too muscle-y to stay our list of favorite thin
musicians?
ADAM LAMBERT
Sure the "American Idol" breakout star has the emo hair and black nail polish thing going on... but underneath all that trendiness, Adam Lambert has a vocal range that puts Mariah Carey and Minnie Ripperton to shame. We've made him the latest on our list of our favorite skinny rockers, as he pours his emotions into one underfed character after another.
ROBERT PLANT
He's one of the greatest singers of all time from a legendary band that all rockers that followed have emulated. But when we think of Robert Plant, we think of one thing and one thing only: DENIM HIP HUGGERS. One look at Plant in "The Song Remains the Same," and the hipbone never looked the same to us again.
DARYL HALL
To clarify, he was the tall, skinny blond half of
the blue-eyed soul duo Hall & Oates (we'll cover Oates when we make
our list of adorable short guys with mustaches). And, it may have been
hard to tell under those shoulder pad-riddled jackets and baggy pants
that were the scourge of '80s fashion, but Daryl was the quintessential
skinny music guy.
PRINCE
Looking at height-to-weight ratio, Prince might be the skinniest of the skinny rockers, so tiny you can pick him up and put him in your pocket. But pound for pound, his talent and energy put him head and shoulders above the rest... even if he needs a pair of high heels to get there.
DAVID CASSIDY
Maybe it was the crushed red velvet suit or the feathered hair. We just can't put our finger on what gave us that love there is no cure for, but we had it bad for David Cassidy. Can you blame us?
IGGY POP
Iggy is 61 years old and still looking good. OK, looking good below the neck (his face was never really his strong point). That's where he still has the ultra-ripped, super-slim body of a man half his age and the onstage stamina of an 18-year-old.
DEE DEE RAMONE
From the moment he appeared in Riff Randall's shower during "I Want You Around" in "Rock 'N' Roll High School," we have wanted Dee Dee Ramone around. Maybe he's not the skinniest Ramone (that honor goes to Joey), but he's definitely the cutest.
DAVE GROHL
Let's face it, chicks dig drummers, and we're no different. It doesn't hurt that Dave Grohl combines the skinny musician look we love with the best sense of humor in rock 'n' roll. What could be better than that?

Stewart Copeland
Jimi Hendrix
Marc Bolan
David Gilmour
Jim Morrison
Brian Connolly
Sid Vicious (if he qualifies as a musician)
Nick Drake
Okay, I think I'll stop now.
He invented the skinny guy chic style. Especially 65-66 era.
Yeah, ok, he isn't "pretty" or "cute", but being controversial is his saving grace, right?
