Fan Letter to Cheap Trick
Dear Rick, Tom, Robin, and Bun E.,
This is a big year in my Cheap Trick life. It's the 30th anniversary of the release of "At Budokan"; your new album, "The Latest," hits stores today; and you play the theme song for the new "Transformers" movie. You guys are more ubiquitous than ever. I'm glad folks are giving you your props after all these years.
I remember back to 6th grade at Diane Moss' house. She had a copy of "Dream Police," and we sat in her room listening to it all afternoon. It's still one of my best album listening experiences. I looked everywhere for a police baton, but no one would sell one to a 12 year old. When Diane rejected me a semester later, "Writing on the Wall" was my only solace.
Now I get to relive my Cheap Trick glory days every night when I watch "The Colbert Report." The song you wrote is one of TV's finest themes. It rivals my all time favorite: the theme from "S.W.A.T."
Anyway, I'm happy you're still putting out music (on your own label; back to indie, I love it) and rocking. I'd come see you on tour this summer, but I really can't handle Poison and Def Leppard. Couldn't you have done a triple bill with Slade and Meat Loaf instead?
Your fan,
Shawn

To make things worse from my view I never got paid for the session. More like Cheap Chumps!
