Michael Jackson was not just a talented musician, he was a true genius. And even though his legendary contribution to the music world has been overshadowed the last few years by accusations, trials, and changes in his physical appearance, he was never at a loss for friends. By all accounts, he was sweet, kind, and had a childlike outlook on life that was contagious. People just wanted to be with him — from pop stars to Presidents. So we take a look at the King of Pop and just SOME of the famous people who clamored to be by his side, from Elizabeth Taylor to Nelson Mandela.

Michael Jackson and Cher, 1983
Cher hosted Michael and his brothers (aka the Jackson Five) on network TV three times in the '70s – in '72 and '74 on "The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour" and in '75 on the "Cher Show," where they sang a medley of their hits "I Want You Back," "I'll Be There," "Never Can Say Goodbye," "The Love You Save," and "Dancing Machine."

Olivia Newton-John and Michael Jackson, 1983
"Grease" co-stars Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta appeared in Jacko's star-studded 1989 music video for "Liberian Girl," along with everyone from Steven Spielberg and Sherman Hemsley to Don King and David Copperfield.

Emmanuel Lewis and Michael Jackson, 1983
You can keep your sparkly gloves and military epaulets; our favorite Michael Jackson accessory of the '80s was, without a doubt, the adorable Emmanuel Lewis.

Michael Jackson and Nancy Reagan, 1984
It's difficult to decide who was more fashionable when Michael Jackson visited with First Lady Nancy Reagan at the White House in 1984.

Michael Jackson with Brooke Shields, 1984
We're not really sure if what Brooke Shields and Michael Jackson were doing was a traditional form of dating, but they did hang out a lot in the early '80s, crossing into each other's worlds at events like the Oscars and American Music Awards.

Sean Lennon and Michael Jackson, 1986
Sean Lennon appeared in Michael Jackson's film "Moonwalker." Look for John's son in the scene where a group of children watch Michael leave a club and get attacked by a crowd of gangsters with machine guns.

Michael Jackson and Princess Diana, 1988
Michael Jackson and Princess Diana first met at his 1988 Wembley Stadium concert. But when the lively royal heard that Jackson planned to drop the groupie-themed song "Dirty Diana" from his set out of respect to her, she asked him to keep it in.

Slash and Michael Jackson, 1990
Michael Jackson and Guns 'N' Roses guitarist Slash were an odd but magical musical pairing on Jacko's 1991 album, "Dangerous," and on the 1995 release "HIStory." They made legendary appearances together at the 1992 and 1995 MTV Video Music Awards and on the "Michael Jackson: 30th Anniversary Special."

Michael Jackson and Macaulay Culkin, 1991
When Macaulay Culkin rose to fame with the "Home Alone" movies, he was befriended by another legendary child star, Michael Jackson. Culkin can be seen cranking the amp up to the "Are you nuts!?!" level in Jackson's 1991 "Black or White" video.

Michael Jackson and Marcel Marceau, 1995

Britney Spears and Michael Jackson, 2002

He who is free of sin cast the first stone. We will all be judge for sins no matter how big or small. Haters will come out at any chance they get to show how small they really are. I wonder how many of you could stand under the scrutiny of the media and your every aspect of your life looked and judged under a magnifying glass. He paid his price he his free of the ugliness of this cruel world. May he rest in peace. God have mercy on all those who think they are better Christians. Jesus came to save the sinners not the so called righteous.

Michael Jackson was my biggest insparation. I wanted to meet him so bad. I know he didn't do anything that he was accused of. He was a very sweet man who I looked up too most of my life. My favorite song is 'Rock With You' because his voice sounds so charming in it. R.I.P. Michael Jackson

I always believed the rumors that the public made up about micheal, but since his death i have read about the truth about his skin and his plastic surgury. Basicaly, micheal was a great person all around. We just never took the time to understand him.

Musical genius. Too bad there is such a thin line between that and insanity.

One day we will all be judged, you are right Big Mama! But the catch is that we will be compared to Jesus Christ and His life. Not the life of other people. How do we look compared to Jesus? He loved those who hated him, healed those who has no faith in him, and provided a way for the whole world to have a secure future, after death if you are willing to believe on Him. If you choose your own way, you are at a loss. Someone perfect already paid the price for all men. "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." But He can "wash us from sin in his own blood" The blood He shed when He laid down His life to be crucified. Anyone can have this gift from God. No sin is too bad that God can't forgive.

I'm so devastated by this news..I really, really wish that it wasn't true, that I could reverse the time and make him not have an attack.. :( It's so sad to know he's gone.. I've been crying for 2 days now.. And since I found out about his death, all I can think of is "why now? why now that you're about to come back to create wonderful music again and buy your album and you'll make another music video?" It's so unbelievable.. SAD.. I was so touched by what Flava Flav said "God needed an angel, so he took MJ".. something like that.. He was an inspiration to all, not just aspiring and current musicians, but to all. He broke the barriers of racism and he was the 1st to be shown in MTV, of a different race. MTV previously only aired Caucasian bands, and MJ was the first to break that. He was my idol since I first knew about him.. When I was a kid, I wasn't even aware of the songs he created, just his dancing.. I admired him for his dancing when I was 7 years old.. and also including the singing.. He was also a humanitarian, which I admired.. I am an environmentalist by heart and mind, he was too. He was one of my idols and rolemodels.. Ya'll haters should just cut the crap 'bout his mistakes! For heaven's sake, he didn't have a childhood! Unlike his siblings, he was always on the spotlight! A person who didn't have a childhood they wanted, will really have a problem when he/she grows up.. Example is Lindsay Lohan right.. I'm not bashing her, I'm just referring to one example I can remember at the moment.. She was a child star, who was always exposed in the spotlight.. She didn't have the childhood she wanted, so now look at her.. She's ruining her life by drinking, partying and all sorts. I also had a very rough and violent childhood, and now I have psychological problem, that is, I have a long term process of forgiving, sometimes never forgiving. Especially to those people (my cousins and parents) who made my childhood a very sad and tough time.. Imagine a 6-year old kid, who was already used to sleep in his/her parents' room, and suddenly he/she was left alone to sleep there in the dark? That affects a child so much. And yet, when a child is given a toy or candies from his/her parent also affects a child much.. Anyways.. that's what became of Michael Jackson.. He didn't experience childhood so when he was a grown-up, he acted like a kid.. Just give the guy some respect people.. No more haters ayt... I just wish we could bring him back.. :( Without MJ, there wouldn't be Usher, Chris Brown, Beyonce, Justin Timberlake.. Michael Jackson WAS and IS the inspiration of most singers.. He will remain in our hearts forever.. and hope that we could teach the future generations of his legacy and music, that he was the 1 to change it.. And please people, stop calling MJ "Wacko Jacko" or even just "Jacko".. don't call him that.. he doesn't like that.. he said so himself.. R.I.P. Mr. MiCHAEL JACKSON... YOU WILL BE MiSSED! YOU ROCK! KEEP MOONWALKiN iN HEAVEN! :'(

My heart goes out to his family and friends who truly loved him he had a difficult life but through it all he managed to rise above it all Michael Jackson will truly be missed.

I agree with so many of you out there. Michael Jackson is a true American icon. Regardless of the controversy in recent years, he deserves to be acknowledged for his contributions to our society. Although his past behavior may seem rather bizarre ... we have no concept of what it was like to live in his world. He was not allowed to live a normal life. If judgement is to come it should be in heaven. I feel that many forget to remember that there are children involved; that dearly loved their father. It would be in their best interest if we would remember the positive contributions that he made and not focus on the questionable actions(which still remain in question and NOT proven) for the sake of the children and family. Please have compassion. Michael Jackson you will forever be a part of my life through your music... thank you for being so brave to share your talent with the world.

97. Alice -
No matter what Michael Jackson may or may not have done in his lifetime, the fact of the matter is, he was still a human being and his life is over. His family is suffering and so are all of the friends and fans who so loved him. I cannot say I was a fan and I do not know if he done the things he was accused of. Only he and his accusers knew if he was guility or not. We lost two fabulous entertainers on the same day and both of them will be missed terribly. Let their families have the peace they deserve and let them both rest in peace.

Blessed Be

i listened to his music everyone did,, and then people of coarse hear of these parents accusing him of abusing there kids...all i got to say is,,if your a true victim and you know that happened to your child,,you wouldnt settle for a couple of millions, you wouldnt even take the money,,that was offered....right? but these people did,,it was all about money for those accusers,...i think he went through alot as a child,,growing up,,..his life wasnt easy.. and he did good expressing his thoughts through music and put all he had in his music...he will be missed he impacted the music industry..and i pray for his kids that they will be taken care of..and will know only the good things about there dad,,and have to deal with all the craziness that has been all over the news...who cares if he had financial problems..we all have them...the media needs to have respect and let his family mourn and put the pieces together..

I am a 58 year old registered nurse (female) from the state of Texas and it is with a heavy heart that I write these words. Michael, you touched people of all ages and races, I have loved you since I first heard you, felt for you during your times of trial and tribulation much as a mother feels for her children. You have been a positivie influence on so many young people. I know your love for children was pure and was only turned ugly by the ugliest of mankind and their stupid quest to quiet such a beautiful soul. Your only mistake was your reference to the Jews and that was your down fall. We know you for the true, lovely person you were and no amount of media propaganda can turn us away from you. Rest in peace, Luv

MAY YOU HAVE A PEACEFUL JOURNEY BROTHER.
