Posted Fri Jun 26, 2009 4:44am PDT by Amy & Nancy Harrington in GetBack

Michael Jackson was not just a talented musician, he was a true genius. And even though his legendary contribution to the music world has been overshadowed the last few years by accusations, trials, and changes in his physical appearance, he was never at a loss for friends. By all accounts, he was sweet, kind, and had a childlike outlook on life that was contagious. People just wanted to be with him — from pop stars to Presidents. So we take a look at the King of Pop and just SOME of the famous people who clamored to be by his side, from Elizabeth Taylor to Nelson Mandela.

Michael Jackson and Cher, 1983
Cher hosted Michael and his brothers (aka the Jackson Five) on network TV three times in the '70s – in '72 and '74 on "The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour" and in '75 on the "Cher Show," where they sang a medley of their hits "I Want You Back," "I'll Be There," "Never Can Say Goodbye," "The Love You Save," and "Dancing Machine."

Olivia Newton-John and Michael Jackson, 1983
"Grease" co-stars Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta appeared in Jacko's star-studded 1989 music video for "Liberian Girl," along with everyone from Steven Spielberg and Sherman Hemsley to Don King and David Copperfield.

Emmanuel Lewis and Michael Jackson, 1983
You can keep your sparkly gloves and military epaulets; our favorite Michael Jackson accessory of the '80s was, without a doubt, the adorable Emmanuel Lewis.

Michael Jackson and Nancy Reagan, 1984
It's difficult to decide who was more fashionable when Michael Jackson visited with First Lady Nancy Reagan at the White House in 1984.

Michael Jackson with Brooke Shields, 1984
We're not really sure if what Brooke Shields and Michael Jackson were doing was a traditional form of dating, but they did hang out a lot in the early '80s, crossing into each other's worlds at events like the Oscars and American Music Awards.

Sean Lennon and Michael Jackson, 1986
Sean Lennon appeared in Michael Jackson's film "Moonwalker." Look for John's son in the scene where a group of children watch Michael leave a club and get attacked by a crowd of gangsters with machine guns.

Michael Jackson and Princess Diana, 1988
Michael Jackson and Princess Diana first met at his 1988 Wembley Stadium concert. But when the lively royal heard that Jackson planned to drop the groupie-themed song "Dirty Diana" from his set out of respect to her, she asked him to keep it in.

Slash and Michael Jackson, 1990
Michael Jackson and Guns 'N' Roses guitarist Slash were an odd but magical musical pairing on Jacko's 1991 album, "Dangerous," and on the 1995 release "HIStory." Michael Jackson and Macaulay Culkin, 1991
When Macaulay Culkin rose to fame with the "Home Alone" movies, he was befriended by another legendary child star, Michael Jackson. Culkin can be seen cranking the amp up to the "Are you nuts!?!" level in Jackson's 1991 "Black or White" video.

Britney Spears and Michael Jackson, 2002
At the 2002 MTV Video Music Awards, Britney Spears brought Michael Jackson onstage to give him a birthday cake, but Jackson misunderstood and thought he was being presented with the Artist of the Millennium Award. We still think he should have been given the honor.

May your soul rest in peace. You touched a lot of people's lives not only with your talent but also through the countles charitable organisations you contributed onto. To all the jounalists that write negative stories about this gallant HERO, I would like to say you lack talent and so please hang your pens in shame.

Think of it this way, when you die, do you want everyone to remember all the bad things you did? No! So, remember all the goods things he did and all his accomplishments and let the man rest in peace!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Michael Jackson, you will be forever missed . . . xoxoxo

MIchael Jackson well always be an inspiration for all of the world those who believed in him. I'm one of those people he always touched my heart, He had the childhood in his heart. Those who accused him then and now will later remember these words never judge some one of there personality but bye there heart. Our judgements are made bye what we are and what we want to be in life but he was judge by us wrongly and untruthfully. I judge him by his personality an angle with in him.his songs where his cry outs but no one heard him and look what happened we lost an angle of rock and soul that cry out help.May his family remember the forevere and he rest in peace with the angles of god.

Of all the things he was or wasn't He still was and always be the great entertainer, bar none he will be bigger in death than in life I would like some day to see the last rehersal tapes , to see if he was back to where he was God bless you and may you rest in peace

I think it is sad for so many people to have judged Michael Jackson. Many of the people didn't know him personally, so why judge. Although the things he was accused of were terrible, the Bible says "don't judge unless you want to be judged". We will all stand before our creator to answer for ourselves and our own actions. Thats what really matters. I just know that he was a great artist in his own unique way and I enjoyed his music. My prayers are with his family especially his children. They are the ones that will grow up hearing the good and bad things people have said about their father. This will affect them greatly. Keep them in prayers.

Good Riddance.

Never have more people mourned the death of a child molester.

Have fun moonwalking in Hell, Michael.

YOU DISRESPECTFUL SOB's . . .

Whatever talent he had was overshadowed by his obvious and public perversions. Amazing how many seemingly normal people seem to accept that as OK, even idolize the child molester. My guess is those are the same people who donate to PETA, voted for Obama and support the gay agenda. Rave on, loonies, you're making a laughing stock of yourselves.

R.I.P. Michael. I hope you the best in the other world. I can't believe he is gone. Music will never be the same without him. I wish his family the best, and I mean just becuz people make mistakes doesn't mean we should go around bringing them back up there mistakes everyone makes them. If no one did then what would are world be like today? I wish people realise just becuz we make mistakes like some people doesn't mean we have to bring them up at a time like this. Michael was one who took chances if he didn't what would music be like today? Nothing to be honest so realise he helped us and music! Thank you michael!

Michael, u r the little brother i never had. I listened to the Jackson 5 on a record player in my parents basement in Toledo when u hit Motown by storm. I can't stop crying. I wish this was a nightmare and i wake up soon. Your spirit is held in my loving embrace, rest in peace.

MIchael will always be an ICON in my heart. I have loved his music ever since I was a little girl. Feels like you were a part of my family. It still doesn't seem real to me. I wish the MEDIA would stop trying to dog him in his death. Just let the man rest in peace. He is no longer here to defend himself just let him be. I am however Oh so proud of how some of the T.V. stations and radio stations are celebrating his life and music. God Bless you Michael and your family!!! You are dearly missed! I hate you had to die for everyone to remember how great you were/are!!!!!!!
