Michael Jackson's Fans & Neighbors Collide at Neverland

Posted Fri Jul 3, 2009 10:34am PDT by Shawn Amos in GetBack

On July 1, one week after Michael Jackson's death, hundreds of his fans gathered at his Neverland Ranch to pay their respects. They were also hoping for a public viewing which didn't happen. That'll be Tuesday morning at Staples Center. Maybe. Nothing's ever for certain in the Jackson world.

From a 16 year old with her cat "Billie Jean" to an 86-year old grandmother, Jackson devotees from around the the world moonwalked and wept for their fallen King of Pop. I went to Neverland to to meet Jackson's army and Jackson's old neighbors in the town of Los Olivos. I even got on my toes in front of the gates in honor of the Gloved One. Here's a video from the day.

Why should we argue about something that is bringing people together. Different things mean different things to different people. Until we learn to put down our own arms and our own hateful words and preconceived notions, until then we will be able to see; in the meantime,we are blind. We need to see that it is moments like these that makes us reflect on how finite everything is. For a little while it makes us better people, makes us believe that it is time for a change that we can truly care about the people around us no matter how different or similar they are to us. Sometimes this is how we remember to be human beings with emotions. As a general public we can experience this moment of togetherness we know that there are other people feeling how we feel. People are grieving the person, the music, the end of an era, the fact that certain things aren't going to happen because someone is forever gone. Don't judge a person for grieving, don't judge a person for loving, don't judge. Someday, maybe not in my lifetime or 20 lifetimes after me, we will be tolerable of each other. What a different world we would be living in if each one of us learned a little bit of tolerance. Isn't that one of the things Michael Jackson stood for? After all, he was as unique as they came.

The pedophile didn't die of a heart attack, he choked on some 12 year old nuts. He can moonwalk through HELL for the rest of eternity as far as I'm concerned. I don't care how much money he gave to charity, he can't buy his way out of child molestation. If it was your child, I'm sure you would agree.

I can't wait to see what some pervert will pay for the glove that was forever in his crotch. LOL

Love and Prosperity May It be with us till the End of time. The Zion Train is coming our way.

I agree the military should be saluted for all of their hard work, but I also think alot of ignorant people are posting comments. This man was never proven to have done anything, and if he had molested my child he would not have had enough money to pay me off. The trials and tribulations that he faced were very small compared to the contributions he made. He broke through alot of barriers and opened alot of doors. I for one am sad about his passing. His season has passed, weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.

Some idiot as a new york governor is runnin his mouth that we should b more concetrated on the 5 people that got shot or the war in afgan. well I say he's a f---stick. 5 people got shot woooopie dooo happens every day in america. theres a war in afgan who cares if our president would bring the troops home there wouldn't b a war. the president should worry about america and not the middle east...MJ was an american icon, not even elvis had anything on MJ, he will be greatly missed. Atleast now he's in a place where all you critsizers will finally leave him alone and let him rest in peace and quiet...

It's so sad how people can be so uncaring... Michael Jackson has affected the last four decades of music!!! Please respect him at least for what he has contributed to the music world and say a prayer for his family and beauiful children. It's so sad but true... major deaths bring out either the best or the worst in people :(

mickey should go away

Where were all the "fans" when the man needed them? To stand beside him when he was accused of something he confided in Geller he did not do! If only and i hope he does knew how much he was loved.

I know if it were Elvis Presley in this day and time that passed away...AMERICA wouldn't be saying ENOUGH LET'S TALK ABOUT MORE PRESSING ISSUES...as a black american I mean Michael Jackson was our "Elvis" I too think its excessive, but I also know to expect the unexpected, tabloids, same Elvis sightings of his ghost "haunting" Neverland...it's going to take time AMERICA for it to die down...I mean heck they still show Marathons of Elvis's movies and tv appearance when its his Birthday month..so please don't be surprised if they do the same thing every year for Michael Jackson when it's his Birthday Month....There is always a calm before the storm, and after the storm..another calm, you can always turn off the the tv and listen to a radio news station, no need to hate on this situation because the same happened with the King of Rock n Roll..and as with Micheal Jackson this too will eventually pass, but not forgotten....sorry it's just as American as apple pie now a part of American culture whether we like it or not...RIP MJ.
