Happy 60th Birthday, Broooce!

Posted Wed Sep 23, 2009 9:02am PDT by Shawn Amos in GetBack

Happy birthday, Bruce. It seems like only yesterday that you and the Big Man were boys chasing each other on the Jersey Shore. Two wide-eyed kids looking for the Promised Land. You were originally dismissed as a Dylan wannabe, singing like Van Morrison. But you proved them wrong and baecame the spokesperson for working class America. You made me wish I had some working class plights instead of my boring, broken home, middle class problems.

Now, 16 albums and 19 Grammys later, you're an inspriation for anyone who wonders if rock can survive into its AARP years (hey, didn't I see you on the cover of AARP magazine recently?). You're even getting a Kennedy Center honor this year alongside Robert DeNiro. You two dudes look like twins these days. In fact, I've never seen you at the same place together. Wait a minute...

Enjoy your big 6-0 and give the Big Man a rest. He's looking kinda tired up there.

Your fan,

Shawn

Bruce is an icon. I have loved him since my college days at
Villanova where we all adorned this Jersey boy. I am thankful
to have such a talent be a part of my adult life.
