Bands Who Are Better Broken Up

VOTE: What band do you wish would reunite? Here's our pick.

The Police play their farewell show tonight at Madision Square Garden. They have said this is it for them. No more shows. No more albums. Bye bye, Police. Do we believe them? Dudes at that age with that much money don't need to tour.

Still, we've heard it before. The endless procession of bands saying "never again," citing "irreconcilable differences" only to hit the road one (or more) times when the paycheck gets big enough. Seems that no one says goodbye for good (except the Band; The Last Waltz really was the last waltz — except when they got back together a few years later. At least Robbie Robertson kept his word).

Here are five bands who couldn't stay apart, and evidence of why they should.

Van Halen
After burning through every other lead singer imaginable, I guess there was no other choice but to call up Diamond Dave again. Although, with Michael Anthony booted out of the band, it's not quite like the good old days. Here they are experiencing a first class train wreck playing their classic  "Jump."

The Pixies
Unlike most reunions, the Pixies sounded good when they got back together. Great on most nights. And at least they were honest about it. They wanted the money. After years of seeing other bands rip off their sound and get paid better, they deserved it. Plus, how much could David Lovering have made as a magician?

Stone Temple Pilots
The ultimate co-dependant rock family. The DeLeo brothers and their wayward step-brother Scott Weiland pretending like all those drug busts and and Velvet Revolver gigs never happened.

The Who
Does anyone remember that the Who had their first farewell tour in 1982? Twenty-six years and two original members later. . . It's a long goodbye.

Simon & Garfunkel
You gotta love the irony of two guys who can barely look at each other calling their reunion tour "Old Friends."

The "experts" have spoken! They had Sting listed a week ago as an artist who should have never gone solo, now they say The Police were better broken up...

the who and van halen were both awesome, don't know what the heck these guys were talking about...
BTW some other bands include prince, eddy money, def leppard, REO speedwagon, and journey.
these are all solid, quality bands, just after re-uniting were absolute garbage

All the music you people listen is poor taste

You know, I've mentioned this guitar god before...Ronnie Montrose and Sammy Hagar {the Old Montrose band} would be a great reunion,King Crimson with Tony Levin ,Bill Bruford,Robert Fripp and Andrian Belew would be an awesome show .I can tell there are only a few people here who would know anything about the previous bands mentioned....

I am a HUGE Creed fan as well as Van Halen & STP. I would absolutely love to see Creed get back together. Van Halen, it doesn't really bother me as long as I have their old music! They are great. As for Metallica & Dave Mustane, NO NO! I am not a fan of Dave Mustane. Metallica are Rock Gods without him. He can stay w/Megadeth

Van Halen was great then and is great reunited.

well KISS been on 4 reunion tour now and just finish a massive record breaking "Alive 35" over in europe and just got done at the opening of Sturgis in SD at the bike fest there, And hell they sound better ad that is one Massive stage show they got going, so it can be done right, If it's done by real professionals

i think guns & roese should get back together
it'll be so cool

I got to see Black Sabbath on their "last reunion" in 2000 at ozzfest. They were very good and they were a band on the top of my list to see live. Although I'd like to see STP i couldn't afford the tix. But a band I'd love to see reunite is Pink Floyd. And since Rage Against the Machine played Lollapalooza, I hope to see them too. The only thing about Led Zep. getting back together would be the ticket prices.

UMMM...this blogger guy needs to be shot !!!
STP is the greatest 90's band of all time. They needed to reunit long ago !!!!!!!!!

156. TPKNJ -
Saw the Police 4 time on this tour. They only messed up one song. Besides that, they were incrediable!!!! Also got to see them for their last show at MSG. Im gonna miss them. Wish I saw them back in the 80's.

157. Yahoo! Music User -
the greastest band of all time....PINK FLOYD!!!!! i'd also like to see W.A.S.P. do a tour

158. Sam -
um... the police are back together

159. Andrew Lavan -
The Who were and still are great live. They're 10 times better than Zeppelin any way. STP still sounds great, and Van Halen is partially understandably. What I think they should do is either have both Diamond Dave and Sammy as lead singers (Blink 182 situation) or a new Van Halen take over the role. Then it's really a FAMILY band.

160. First L -
The TWO bands I really with would get back together are Creed and DC Talk. Two best bands of all time I say!
