Bands Who Are Better Broken Up

VOTE: What band do you wish would reunite? Here's our pick.

The Police play their farewell show tonight at Madision Square Garden. They have said this is it for them. No more shows. No more albums. Bye bye, Police. Do we believe them? Dudes at that age with that much money don't need to tour.

Still, we've heard it before. The endless procession of bands saying "never again," citing "irreconcilable differences" only to hit the road one (or more) times when the paycheck gets big enough. Seems that no one says goodbye for good (except the Band; The Last Waltz really was the last waltz — except when they got back together a few years later. At least Robbie Robertson kept his word).

Here are five bands who couldn't stay apart, and evidence of why they should.

Van Halen
After burning through every other lead singer imaginable, I guess there was no other choice but to call up Diamond Dave again. Although, with Michael Anthony booted out of the band, it's not quite like the good old days. Here they are experiencing a first class train wreck playing their classic  "Jump."

The Pixies
Unlike most reunions, the Pixies sounded good when they got back together. Great on most nights. And at least they were honest about it. They wanted the money. After years of seeing other bands rip off their sound and get paid better, they deserved it. Plus, how much could David Lovering have made as a magician?

Stone Temple Pilots
The ultimate co-dependant rock family. The DeLeo brothers and their wayward step-brother Scott Weiland pretending like all those drug busts and and Velvet Revolver gigs never happened.

The Who
Does anyone remember that the Who had their first farewell tour in 1982? Twenty-six years and two original members later. . . It's a long goodbye.

Simon & Garfunkel
You gotta love the irony of two guys who can barely look at each other calling their reunion tour "Old Friends."

I saw STP at the Hollywood Bowl and thought it was a great show

Perhaps, ABBA made the right decision?!?

With out Van Halen to back him up, David Lee Roth wouldn't be anything more than a redneck bar karaoke singer, and hopefully he starts very early when few people are there.

In a perfect world, all these bands should definitely be together. Esp. Simon & Garfunkel, Van Halen, and The Police. But in reality, since they can't get along, then yeah... spare us the drama and stay split up. :-)

Aren't The Who still together though??

what the hell does "sounded really dad" mean?

What a stupid article. All of these bands are great and they just want to have fun and play their music again. Who are we to criticize that

If a band you truly love breaks up then one should be grateful for a reunion in whatever shape or form. Yes, the original lineup is always better. Something is better than nothing. Enjoy them while you can. One if not all of them will be gone sooner than later. There will never be a Nirvana reunion for example. So thank you S.T.P., Rage, and especially The Smashing Pumpkins for giving me some real Rock.

For the first coment on here, Creed should never get back together because Alter Bridge is so much better.

I'm sorry.. but why isn't new kids on the block on here.. heck they arent even kids anymore and they still SUCK!!!!

178. Yahoo! Music User -
I'll tell you why they do it. besides money... it's for the fans!! and isnt that what concerts are for? reminiscing fans or for these entertainers reliving their career highlights? and not all towns are A list the B list cities and towns want rock concerts too. and this is kind of an immature article.

Why the Heck didn't anyone tell The Rolling Stones that it was a bad idea to try and start touring agian when they look and SOUND worse than the Crypt Keeper. The Stones should be No.1 on this list. Great in their time, but worse than boiled bacon at this point.

Say what you want about Van Halen but Eddie is the man and definitely one of the greatest to play the guitar!
