Countdown To 9th Annual BET Awards

Posted Thu Jun 25, 2009 5:00pm PDT by Billy Johnson, Jr. in Hip-Hop Media Training
The 9th Annual BET Awards is just a few days away and is already sparking a buzz across the nation. Comedian, actor and singer Jamie Foxx will host this year's star-studded extravaganza which will air live from Los Angeles Sunday, June 28, at 8/7c.

Foxx recently visited BET's popular 106 & Park video show to discuss Beyonce's performance at the event. He even offered a rendition of Beyonce's infamous "Single Ladies" dance.

The BET Awards is also a fashion show of sorts. Fans enjoy viewing photos from red carpet arrivals to see what their favorite stars are wearing, creating their own best and worst dressed lists.

Yahoo! Music worked closely with the good folks at the BET Awards to pull some red carpet highlight photos from last year's event. Flip through our photo gallery to see elegant pics of Rihanna, Trina, Keri Hilson and Soulja Boy.

I don't get it. When did we start excusing all kinds of moral sickness simply because someone is mega talented and a star? It's frightening to think that there are so many people in this country that hold people like Michael Jackson and others in such high esteem, and are so willing to overlook their crimes and the harm they have done. Yeah yeah yeah "they weren't convicted!!!!!" so what? Neither was Adolph Hitler, but we all know what he did. Just because someone beats a rap, it doesn't make them innocent. I didn't ever get caught, much less tried, for the wrong stuff I did back in the day, that don't mean I didn't do any of it!! Wake up people, just cuz he's a brother and he was talented is not justification to overlook his obvious inner sickness and perverted "love of children" he so often expounded upon. Yeah we know you "loved"children Michael....RIP.

This is sad and it is a process to take away a life of creative prophetic wonder from a society that was ungrateful enough to allow him to be taken apart by the hateful and greedy which had to be deeply rooted among the racial shadows. A society that no longer deserved his presence in this shrinking world. I hope he has risen to a culture worthy of his giving.

Liz A sounds like a fool! Michael was the best and his name would be carried on in history baby!!!!!!!! Eveyone isn't guilty, just because the media wants them to be.
