Wyclef To Get Hip Hop Steroids Scandal Story Dismissed

Posted Fri Jan 18, 2008 1:00am PST by Billy Johnson, Jr. in Hip-Hop Media Training

After years of being out of shape, Timbaland gets a trainer, buffs up like 50 Cent and finally builds up the confidence to take his shirt off in one of his videos.

It's too bad that New York's Albany Times Union newspaper ruined Timbaland's set up days earlier when it reported that the superstar producer, 50 Cent, Mary J. Blige, Tyler Perry and Wyclef were among celebrities allegedly using steroids.

Fortunately for Timbaland, the report has a major loophole named Wyclef.

Wyclef don't take this the wrong way. I love the Fugees, your Destiny's Child "No, No, No" remix, The Carnival and both of your new songs with T.I. But I think you would agree that you are not quite as physically fit as Fiddy, Mary and Timbo.

When I heard about the scandal I felt bad.

When I heard Fiddy's name I thought: "Man, Fat Joe has accused 50 of taking steroids. Was he right?"

When I heard Mary's name I sighed: "Dang. I just interviewed her in New York last month and she said her new slim look was a result of drinking lots of water and working out like a maniac. She didn't say anything about steroids?"

When I heard Tim's name I got nervous: "Really. Is that how he turned that keg of a stomach into a six pack?"

But when I heard Wyclef's name, I felt relieved.

I knew that this investigation had to be a hoax.

Though Wyclef has always freely taken off his shirts in music videos and live performances, I haven't noticed any endorsement deals with Bally Total Fitness and Vitamin Water.

There's no way he taking steroids.

And if so, Dr. Gary Brandwein must have prescribed him a placebo.

Please, let's give Timbaland his moment to shine.

It's not a racial issue, it's just that some of artists, professional athletes can afford the very best money can offer to get the results they want in shorter amount of time. Those are are using steriods or exotic ehancement drugs, should just be truthful about it.

LMAO!

as someone who has worked in the entertainment industry for over 20 years, I can tell you without a doubt that there are just as many people on roids as there are people who get cosmetic surgery.Grow UP!

It makes sense now! You remember Fitty first album, those rhymes were WEAK. Now all of a sudden the Massacre sells a million copies? Nobody can do that without some amount of enhancement. 50 Cent is a CHEATER!

25. kmitch -
They didn't take no performance enhancement drugs. What, its gonna make them sing better? NO! If they did then its their own business. It was to have a better body. Whoin the hell doesn't try to have a nice looking body. People would be mad if Mary weighed 250 lbs! Get a life. Probably just mad they didn't think of it first! HA HA HATERS!!!!!!

You know something? This guys are artists, not athletes, there for there is no constrain regarding his muscular performances. They know exactly the effects and took the chances. It is their life and doesn't affect anyone. I would consider the drug addiction, of which the majority of the show biz is into it, to be far more dangerous and illegal then steroids.

All these guys are taking steriods...just take a look at their before and after pictures. Nowadays, just about everybody in professional sports and the entertainment business is taking steriods or Human Growth Hormones.

if someone said eminem then yes i would believe it. i am a white guy and i have worked out for a while now and i have noticed some results. i have always noticed that black guys build up quicker then white guy's.

you cant use hormone, but you can use alcohol, drugs and whatever.
what is wrong with you people? is their body they do whatever they want. if they want inject drugs on their veins, tattoo their penis, pierce their vagina, let them do it, they are adults and free, don't make them wear a scarf just cause your god says that they should. FREEDOM. as long as it doesn't cause harm to bystanders, let them do what they think is best for them. choose what you want for you and don't impose it to the others.

Actually us white honkies don't have to do a thing to destroy black people. Black people are doing that to other black people all by themselves.

31. canada -

Face it good bodies and large BUTTS are a gift to the Black race, at least to 85% of them!

If anyone on this earth can TRUTHFULLY claim to adhere to the moral fidelity they require of others to the nth degree I ,for one , would certainly like to hear from them!!
I would immediately become their disciple
One should use caution when overlaying their personal morals on the lives of others.
The morals that are being employed are just that: THIERS
and noone else,to my knowledge, is required to to adhere to said moral

36. Yahoo! Music User -
its sad when people try 2 bring other people down especially the ones who have worked hard to get the top, overcoming a whole lot of hard times and trials.
PLEASE LEAVE THEM ALONE AND LET THEM SHINE

Let's hear it for Billy Johnson Jr., medical expert!

But seriously... This was the same argument used by stupid baseball analysts when the Mitchell (steroid) report came out. "What do you mean Chuck Knoblauch used steroids? He's not a big guy!"

Steroids aren't used for the same reasons by everyone, and they certainly don't have the same effect on everyone's body. Analyzing steroid use based on a person's body type is foolish, and Yahoo should be ashamed to post this horribly misguided advice anywhere on its site.

This article actually made me dumber. I lost an IQ point! Thanks a lot, Billy, now I have to listen to PBS for an hour to get it back. Look what you've done!

38. Yahoo! Music User -
Of course they're using them, but WHO CARES?

Why is this even in the news??

39. peeved -
who cares- i'm so tired of hearing this junk, it's like the media has nothing else to report on -- i've trained for a female figure show under the coaching of PhD in nutrition & my husband used to do natural bodybuilding shows - the fact is there is so much research to nutritional & supplemental science that Dr's, media and the public will never understand, but jsut because you don't know how someone achieved their goal naturally, doesn't mean it didn't happen naturally & 'had to' happen thru drugs - Stop cutting down others that work hard thru proper food intake, nutrient timing & disciplined physical training to achieve great health & mind your own business - With an American population that is on the way to being 50% total obese by scientific definition, I think we have more important things to focus on those who exhibit their dedication to good health through a healthy physique...wouldn't you agree?

I think it's a poor attempt to destroy black entertainers by these white KKKracka's
