Wyclef To Get Hip Hop Steroids Scandal Story Dismissed

Posted Fri Jan 18, 2008 1:00am PST by Billy Johnson, Jr. in Hip-Hop Media Training

After years of being out of shape, Timbaland gets a trainer, buffs up like 50 Cent and finally builds up the confidence to take his shirt off in one of his videos.

It's too bad that New York's Albany Times Union newspaper ruined Timbaland's set up days earlier when it reported that the superstar producer, 50 Cent, Mary J. Blige, Tyler Perry and Wyclef were among celebrities allegedly using steroids.

Fortunately for Timbaland, the report has a major loophole named Wyclef.

Wyclef don't take this the wrong way. I love the Fugees, your Destiny's Child "No, No, No" remix, The Carnival and both of your new songs with T.I. But I think you would agree that you are not quite as physically fit as Fiddy, Mary and Timbo.

When I heard about the scandal I felt bad.

When I heard Fiddy's name I thought: "Man, Fat Joe has accused 50 of taking steroids. Was he right?"

When I heard Mary's name I sighed: "Dang. I just interviewed her in New York last month and she said her new slim look was a result of drinking lots of water and working out like a maniac. She didn't say anything about steroids?"

When I heard Tim's name I got nervous: "Really. Is that how he turned that keg of a stomach into a six pack?"

But when I heard Wyclef's name, I felt relieved.

I knew that this investigation had to be a hoax.

Though Wyclef has always freely taken off his shirts in music videos and live performances, I haven't noticed any endorsement deals with Bally Total Fitness and Vitamin Water.

There's no way he taking steroids.

And if so, Dr. Gary Brandwein must have prescribed him a placebo.

Please, let's give Timbaland his moment to shine.

this article is stupid, who cares if they take steroids its not like they are professional athletes and they break records and make more money with the help of steroids, steriods dont help them write their music. and someone commented saying that only black people are talked about for steroid abuse, well i dunno if youve heard of Rodger Clemens but hes been the top guy in the knews of steroids recently (by recently i mean after the whole barry bonds thing calmed down).

(SIGH!) This is all so boring. This nation is fat and kids are dying! Because someone took responsibility and got in shape have vile rumors spead about them?!

Being healthy, toned, fit and in shape is not a crime...but being overweight and jealous should be.

43. Chanel -
yeah i seriously believe 50 is on them. Tyler Perry? No way. Not too sure about Mary and the others though.

who gives a crap...these for the most part are not musicians... rap is not music, it sounds awful, and anyone can do it... now jazz and rock, that takes real talent, not writing some pointless scribble on a peace of paper and reciting it over a copied overlaced track from some 80's album... but in the end, it sells because young kids are gullible and not very educated to know what real music is... so in that effect it does not matter, it would be nice if rap would be RIP'd and lets get rid of country too while we are at it, then finally we can have something respectful and classy to listen to... other than that... i could care less, everyone is way too image conscious, just be urself Timberland, Mary and the rest of the people out there, it dont matter how you look in life, its what you do and actions you take that will leave you a legacy and will contribute something to society.... ok, now i can get back to appreciating real music that actually takes talent and some intelligence... peace!!!!

Well, it's their body and if they wanna use them, then that's on them. So why are people so worried about other people taking steroids? Not saying that I would but all I'm saying is, It's THEIR choice, not anyone elses

Not all steroids or hormones make you look like Dr. Dre (not mentioned) or 50. It also depends on how much you take and how hard you work. Furthrmore one steroid may work great in my body but the next person may have limited effects. The media makes it seem as if there is one type and it works the same in everybody. The media seems very ignorant when it comes to this subject.

Theese cheaters need that extra boost because they want to cut corners and take the easy street. They need to learn that it takes hard work, dedication, and self respect to stay on top!

Who cares... These are performance enhancement drugs. So I personally don't care becasue rappers aren't getting an unfair advantage. It's not like steroids make you write rhymes better or produce a track better. It will weaken yor heart eventually, but that's all on them.

57. KC -
WHo cares, its not like its professional sports. If they want to take steroids so be it. It won't make them sing better. lol. Whats the big deal? Oh wait theres not.

who cares................next

Twizzla...yall crazy pulling the race card time after time...this is just a newer article focused on the music industry. Guess you forgot about the Andy Petite, Roger Clemens expo on national TV last week. Oh and the Mark McGwire, Rafael Palmeiro scandal and Congress the last few years...are you kidding me?...its not a race thing! Anyway, like most say, it is against the but no different than any other laws people break. Its their bodies they're killin not mine.

60. Justin -
This is stupid. It's not a black or white issue. It shouldn't even be an issues. WTF does it matter if these entertainers are taking steroids? OH SNAP, 50 takes steroids so he can hold the mic up longer with bigger arm muscles! That gives him an advantage over Lil' Bow Wow! UNFAIR!

Who cares, this was so stupid. Those rappers aren't role models for anyone going anywhere anyways.
