Wyclef To Get Hip Hop Steroids Scandal Story Dismissed

Posted Fri Jan 18, 2008 1:00am PST by Billy Johnson, Jr. in Hip-Hop Media Training

After years of being out of shape, Timbaland gets a trainer, buffs up like 50 Cent and finally builds up the confidence to take his shirt off in one of his videos.

It's too bad that New York's Albany Times Union newspaper ruined Timbaland's set up days earlier when it reported that the superstar producer, 50 Cent, Mary J. Blige, Tyler Perry and Wyclef were among celebrities allegedly using steroids.

Fortunately for Timbaland, the report has a major loophole named Wyclef.

Wyclef don't take this the wrong way. I love the Fugees, your Destiny's Child "No, No, No" remix, The Carnival and both of your new songs with T.I. But I think you would agree that you are not quite as physically fit as Fiddy, Mary and Timbo.

When I heard about the scandal I felt bad.

When I heard Fiddy's name I thought: "Man, Fat Joe has accused 50 of taking steroids. Was he right?"

When I heard Mary's name I sighed: "Dang. I just interviewed her in New York last month and she said her new slim look was a result of drinking lots of water and working out like a maniac. She didn't say anything about steroids?"

When I heard Tim's name I got nervous: "Really. Is that how he turned that keg of a stomach into a six pack?"

But when I heard Wyclef's name, I felt relieved.

I knew that this investigation had to be a hoax.

Though Wyclef has always freely taken off his shirts in music videos and live performances, I haven't noticed any endorsement deals with Bally Total Fitness and Vitamin Water.

There's no way he taking steroids.

And if so, Dr. Gary Brandwein must have prescribed him a placebo.

Please, let's give Timbaland his moment to shine.

Wow..I'm not sure if I believe it. I thought steriods bulk you up. Why isn't Mary J. looking like Chyna or somebody. I mean...I can look at some wrestlers and tell that they are probaby taking steriods. I just don't believe all these Hip Hop artists are taking steriods like that. I don't see it.

Don't steroids kill or harm you at some point? Please take more fiddy. I will send you some, you retard.

83. Mecie -
Why does it matter? If they want to take steroids so what. I agree with you black people destroy themselves as a race.
But, I must say there are just as many white people that destroy themselves, but it is not made public. That't the difference!!!!!!!!!!!!!

84. Yahoo! Music User -
White people dont need steroids we already rock at everything, and rule the world.

85. Jay -
Now this is what I would like to call a very weak attempt at getting news. Can't believe I actually looked at this story. Believe it or not, there are some black people that look like they're in shape and aren't in prison. Just thought I would bring that up. People of all races are becoming more health oriented. Then again maybe we all just eat collard greens and chiterlings everyday. Whatever...get some real news.

88. Terrance -
SO WHAT!!! Whats wrong with taking Steroids? they are not playing any sports. And i dont think that Steroids make rappers rap better or singers sing better.

there is no way around it... i used to be a steroid user and i can certainly identify... that fifty is a steroid user.. his face gets puffy then slim... his muscles are cartoonish looking at times... its called cycleing on and off.... im not hatin on him for that but his aggression comes through in his lyrics... the steroids used are initially for bulls so it literally gives u aggression like a bull u can contain it but not when u r using alcohol and other substances i believe in science and i know the effects it has on the human body physiologically and psycologically and its not a white or black thing take a look at bodybuilding arnold was a steroid user jay cutler ron coleman it is using synthetic hormonones... if fifty started bodybuilding all natural he would be sick wit it but until then its artificial... last note.... steroids are very addicting most people that use them do them long term so i give credit and respect to those people who can over come the addiction and recover and build naturally.... i don't use steroids anymore i don't train to be big anymore i just train for endurance which is the opposite objective of bodybuilding but i did love bodybuilding and respect bodybuilders but it was too easy for me... but originally i am a motocross racer and i feel it takes more talent and is more challenging.

I say thank God for steroids!God gave us a mind to improve our lives. We have done hat in many ways. Once there were people who thoughts it was immoral to use contact lenses. Grow up, people.

I didn't hear 50's or Timbo's name mentioned on the Mitchelll Report!

Justin G is right... this is not a racial issue...this is not a music issue... the IS an IMAGE ISSUE! It's about how they want to look, the image they want to have , and how they use that image to make money....just like, a fat runway model will make less money than a skinny runway model. even comedians are using roids. Carrot Top went from scrawney to muscleman in 6 months... it's all about image and money!

who cares? they took steroids, BFD. I bet they smoke pot too. Steroids are actually not all that bad when used responsibly everyone just wants to demonize them. They enhance performance like HGH etc. Its not good for your liver but NO drug is. Statins prescribed for high cholesterol are horrible for your liver as well. you have to get your liver function tested every 3 months if you take statins. just a bunch of overblown crap. this isn't baseball or the olymics.

Is it at all possible that these people just work really hard at achieving their goals!

96. Clemens -
What's wrong with you people? What does 50 cent using steroid got to do with you? (if he is taking that stuff at all) I bet you'll got nothing better to do i suppose.

97. Yahoo! Music User -
If using steriods is considered harmful and made illegal, then we should not use it.But why does authorities don't go after those that produce it.Why is the public not well informed about the pros and cons about the use of steroids? And who should and should not use steroids. We need more information or explanation about who should or should not use steroids, and why is it being produced.

98. Jim V -
who cares if some dopey singers want to take steroids, only hurts them, no one seems to care about all the other harmfull drugs they use

99. Victor J -
And why did race get involved in this whole thing? Man! drop the race issue and as a matter of fact - if you really are concerned about musicians doing steroids you need to get your priorities straight!

100. SHANE -
Why in the hell we talking about race , If you haven't heard about the light americans doing it then you need to do your research everybody gets there fair share of steroid blame, I've seen alot of HBO specials and other movies about light americans doing steroids so its definitly not a dark thing its people in general you race addicts get of that crap it doesn't fit in every topic, LOL
