Wyclef To Get Hip Hop Steroids Scandal Story Dismissed

Posted Fri Jan 18, 2008 1:00am PST by Billy Johnson, Jr. in Hip-Hop Media Training

After years of being out of shape, Timbaland gets a trainer, buffs up like 50 Cent and finally builds up the confidence to take his shirt off in one of his videos.

It's too bad that New York's Albany Times Union newspaper ruined Timbaland's set up days earlier when it reported that the superstar producer, 50 Cent, Mary J. Blige, Tyler Perry and Wyclef were among celebrities allegedly using steroids.

Fortunately for Timbaland, the report has a major loophole named Wyclef.

Wyclef don't take this the wrong way. I love the Fugees, your Destiny's Child "No, No, No" remix, The Carnival and both of your new songs with T.I. But I think you would agree that you are not quite as physically fit as Fiddy, Mary and Timbo.

When I heard about the scandal I felt bad.

When I heard Fiddy's name I thought: "Man, Fat Joe has accused 50 of taking steroids. Was he right?"

When I heard Mary's name I sighed: "Dang. I just interviewed her in New York last month and she said her new slim look was a result of drinking lots of water and working out like a maniac. She didn't say anything about steroids?"

When I heard Tim's name I got nervous: "Really. Is that how he turned that keg of a stomach into a six pack?"

But when I heard Wyclef's name, I felt relieved.

I knew that this investigation had to be a hoax.

Though Wyclef has always freely taken off his shirts in music videos and live performances, I haven't noticed any endorsement deals with Bally Total Fitness and Vitamin Water.

There's no way he taking steroids.

And if so, Dr. Gary Brandwein must have prescribed him a placebo.

Please, let's give Timbaland his moment to shine.

Big News that Drugs are in the Entertainment or Music Biz? COME ON! And it isnt a Black or white issue either.
For as long as time.. Drugs have played a part in our entertainment society somehow.
My father was a producer and You would be surprised to find who either smoked or used back then in. Most have passed not due to drugs just age or illness but It is just something that was known in the business sometimes.I am not saying it is Exceptable, as I personally dont use and never have but this isnt Big News to me!
Why is everyone so shocked? Geese!

THAT SOUNDS LIKE A LOW-BUDGET STR8 2 DVD INDEPENDENT MOVIE WITH A SORRY A$$ SCRIPT. I WILL NEVER B-LEVE THAT AND I'M 1000% SURE NO BODY IN THE HIP-HOP WORLD IS LISTNIN' 2 THAT!! GO HOME AND TRY 2 MAKE UP ANOTHER ONE.

It's not like steroid use in the music industry gives them the major edge that it would give an athlete in competition. Who the flippin hell cares...if they want to look buff, whatever. Let them.

It's called HGH. Read about it. It can basically make you young and help you recover. Athletes use it to recover from injuries and games (pitchers especially) and these guys could use it to recover from all the traveling and all the shows (that takes a lot out of you). It can be the fountain of youth, but it could also give you cancer and kill you, but for the millions more they can make, the risk is worth it.

who cares

111. Matt -
lets all just use steroids

112. MGY -
Yo this is music, not sports, if it was a sport that i would say get em, but its music, whats the big deal,,,,50 can take all the steroids wants, and West will still sell more ablems then 50. steroids will not help artit sell records, so let em take it.....it dosent make their flow stronger or beats better...and 50 can take all the roids the wants, he still garbage

113. sizzlanl -

ahhh, if you're black, stop blaming white people for your problems. Who the hell said that blacks are the only people being accused of steroid use?.. Mark Mcguire? Lance Armstrong? The rocket? read a book.

Ok for one this is not a race thing. If people honestly believe it is then so be it but as I seem to remember lots of people both black and white were called out in baseball recently. As for whether people should be able to or not, think of it this way, they are role models for the people who like them. If the baseball players are using it then more kids who play baseball will to be like them. If more rappers are using it then more rapper wannabee's will to be like them. But just on a side note... using steroids does not help make people better rappers but they should not endorse it like they do with drugs.

This is another one of those things that degrades successful blacks or black in general. You have to read between the lines, most often the truth is in there. For one, if they were taking steroids, it would show side effects. Are there evidence of mood change? agressiveness or is it that they pursue their career seriously more than others? Is that the reason for accusing them of steoids? I got news for the media, I from the hood and many of our brothers lift weights to kill time. We will put a weight bench on the porch in a heart beat as a recreational piece.

For the ignorant white person that wrote BLACKIE. Your the ignorant one, because no one attacked whites or in general. It's funny you say, it shows that he was uneducated. But you demostrate the ability to read and not comprehend. So who is the uneducated one.

Why dont they start with Viagra if they want to ban performence enhancing drugs. I agree with the person who made the comment about ciggs. the're leagle, but deadly as hell. Ah, but they are a profitable multi-billion a year industry. Now, if roids were available through Phillip Morris, then it would be ok.

Lets eat some cake. If you don't want any, I'll eat your slice. Then we can have a dance party while listening to Prince music.
