Wyclef To Get Hip Hop Steroids Scandal Story Dismissed

Posted Fri Jan 18, 2008 1:00am PST by Billy Johnson, Jr. in Hip-Hop Media Training

After years of being out of shape, Timbaland gets a trainer, buffs up like 50 Cent and finally builds up the confidence to take his shirt off in one of his videos.

It's too bad that New York's Albany Times Union newspaper ruined Timbaland's set up days earlier when it reported that the superstar producer, 50 Cent, Mary J. Blige, Tyler Perry and Wyclef were among celebrities allegedly using steroids.

Fortunately for Timbaland, the report has a major loophole named Wyclef.

Wyclef don't take this the wrong way. I love the Fugees, your Destiny's Child "No, No, No" remix, The Carnival and both of your new songs with T.I. But I think you would agree that you are not quite as physically fit as Fiddy, Mary and Timbo.

When I heard about the scandal I felt bad.

When I heard Fiddy's name I thought: "Man, Fat Joe has accused 50 of taking steroids. Was he right?"

When I heard Mary's name I sighed: "Dang. I just interviewed her in New York last month and she said her new slim look was a result of drinking lots of water and working out like a maniac. She didn't say anything about steroids?"

When I heard Tim's name I got nervous: "Really. Is that how he turned that keg of a stomach into a six pack?"

But when I heard Wyclef's name, I felt relieved.

I knew that this investigation had to be a hoax.

Though Wyclef has always freely taken off his shirts in music videos and live performances, I haven't noticed any endorsement deals with Bally Total Fitness and Vitamin Water.

There's no way he taking steroids.

And if so, Dr. Gary Brandwein must have prescribed him a placebo.

Please, let's give Timbaland his moment to shine.

I see alot of people making this story a race issue. Its not its not even an issue. Steriods does not affect the voice it will give guys smaller packages and women a beard but who cares. People steriods they are illegal and legal all depends on how you get them. As for some people talking about drug use being said in videos its true why arent we targeting that issue or is it that we see it as a issue we cant win because it targets the core of some kinds of music and the crowd they are trying to reach. Steriods are dangerous and should be only taken with a doctors written approval. Steriods in sports IS BAD i totally agree let the music play im not going to stop listening to any kind of music for drug use or alcoholism. If the tune catches my ear and i like im going to turn it up

If it's true O.K. they took steriods. Who cares they are entertainers not athletes. Last I checked looks plays a huge roles in many entertainers careers.....Don't believe it look at 90% of the actors and actress in Hollywood that get some sort of surgery to fix or enhance this or that body part not to mention some sort of ad trying to sell you some facial cream or lip stick.....and the television programs....Extreme Makeovers, The Biggest Loser, etc......and you wanna clown these people for "using" steriods....tell ya what if you wanna stop it, stop producing it........

In response to Yahoo music user, yes I do want to kill blacks by any means necessary, so watch your back.

But in this case, WHO CARES?! This is an entire industry based on the fact that americans think anything that is not based on their own culture is cool and try to attach their egos to it. Take as many steroids as you need to win the national "hip-hop" championships and be put in the "hip-hop" hall of fame. It doesn't help someone in a music career so this is a police matter only, maybe you can find their stores of crack, pot, and opium while your searching for the scary steroids...

wanna know what it means if a musician takes steroids?? absolutely nothing. they aren't competing for a gold metal. does Silvester Stallone take HGH?? well duh.. who is surprised about that. Is he trying out for the olympics? no? i don't see the problem then. This scandel is more a creation of the media than it is of actual laws being broken. its not like actors and musicians are professional athletes. realise where the attention should be focused. basketball, baseball, football, track...etc. from the press this is getting you'd think they JUST figured out that WWE and WWF wrestlers are all using steroids.... *shock* no kidding sherlock.

we'll its other people's job to destroy the image of others. thats what they do for a living. and maybe they're just envy at somebody who is better than them, maybe WAY BETTER than them. it's everyone's choice to choose their path. steroids doesn't involve their voice you know? so why tell it anyway? are you dumb or what? your story is just a pile of crap. thats my opinion to that.

who the hell cares if they've taken steroids? i for one wouldn't use them, but the only reason steroids have been the basis for controversy in sports is because its against the rules. how are steroids against the rules or give anyone an unfair advantage in music? move on...

Who cares who does what. Maybe Hillary should do steroids and McCain can smoke pot. Oh, maybe I have it mixed up. Hillary can smoke pot and McCain looks like he could use some steroids. We have a lot more important things to worry about then who does what drugs. We are truly a nation of whiners, led by the media.

This Iis what is wrong about music in the mainstream today its all about image, regardless of the material, it seems music fans have been suckered into that pitful beliving that how they look and what is going on in thier personal lives is just as important as the performance. Steroids in sport and now music, jeez what are some of you artists, who are meant to be role models teaching our kids? Get grip and record some decent music, sod taking your clothes off I NEVER wanted to see Barry White, Luther Vandross, Aretha or Bizmarkie, or Biggie take there clothes off , there was no need to, they just got by on talent.
Plus don't steroids make your do das shrink? Better wise up!!

Let me start by saying this is not a race issue its a "Oh I got caught" issue. To bad if its mostly black people getting caught. Guess who you have to thank for that? Stop blamming other people, you've already played that card long enough. Your get out of jail card free ticket has expired so please stop being a baby.
