Chris Brown's 2006 "Thriller" Tribute To Re-Air Tonight
The program also recognized the 25th anniversary of the release of "Thriller."
In performing "Thriller," Chris dressed up like Michael, wearing a red leather jacket with black stripes and red pants. Chris mimicked Michael's choreography and was backed by dancers in zombie costumes.
The re-broadcast is ironic for Chris who was rumored to have been shut out of Sunday's BET Awards that featured several artist tributes to Michael. Because of Chris' singing and dancing styles he has been the contemporary artist most compared to Michael.
The New York Post and Daily News reported that Jay-Z and Rev. Al Sharpton insisted that BET not include Chris in any Michael tributes. However, reps for Chris denied these reports, and told VH1 that Chris had not been confirmed for the annual event.
Chris reached a plea deal on June 22 admitting to one count of felony assault against his former girlfriend, fellow pop star Rihanna. Chris has not made any award show appearances since the February 8 altercation.
Chris is featured on another Michael tribute. Chris, The Game, Diddy, Boyz II Men and others joined to record the song "Better On The Other Side."
