Jackson Sings About Escapism On Previously Unreleased Song

Posted Thu Jul 16, 2009 4:17pm PDT by Billy Johnson, Jr. in Hip-Hop Media Training

A clip of a previously unreleased Michael Jackson song has hit the net, and it feels eerie.

In the song "A Place With No Name," the late King of Pop sings about his desire to travel to a mysterious locale: "Take me to a place without no name."

It is not clear when the song was recorded or if it is referring to a heaven-like utopia or a remote getaway.

The 25-second snippet obtained by TMZ is an interpolation of America's song "A Horse With No Name" that reached Number 1 on The Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1972.

Years ago, America's manager reportedly approved Michael's "A Place With No Name."

Jim Morey, America's current manager who also represented Michael in the late '80s and early '90s, told TMZ that the band supported Michael's rendition. "The band was honored that Michael chose to do their song and they hope it becomes available for all Michael's fans to hear."

I'm with you Elena W. I have always preferred America to Michael Jackson. Though I do enjoy a couple of MJ's songs quite a bit. America was an important musical influence from my childhood but MJ was not on my radar at all in those years.

metalhead5791-
just a question...do u have any proof that michael jackson was a child molestor?no?i thought so.and neither did the courts which is y he was aqquited not once but TWICE.the only proof that they had of him molesting those kids was a mother who was convicted of welfare fraud back in the day.and in case u didnt know the child in 1993 case came out the day after he died and wrote a blog saying that he lied and that michael never touched him at all.the whole thing was a lie made up by his father to do what?GET MONEY!and if u pull that whole bullcrap that he paid him anyways.i got the reason for that too.he paid them in the out of court settlement beacuse he couldnt handle all of the pressure and he hated the fact that he was being accused in the first place.it basically was tearing him apart the whole time.he wanted it to end so thats y he paid them off.and if u didnt know he left neverland ranch and never returned.

This sounds so beautiful. Michael's voice has always had a unique and beautiful quality about it. I love the concept also-from what I've heard. I hope we get to hear the whole thing. And to the people who keep referencing the trial-GO READ THE TRANSCRIPTS AND READ ABOUT THE REAL STORY that the tabloids didn't print on the front page before you keep talking about something you know nothing about!!!!

I just hope he had the opportunity, to ask God in his heart, and forgive him of his sins. I too loved his music, but not the sin.

153. Rich -
I like this song...as for the child molester comments...being found "not guilty" is what makes this country great.

Your judgment is only as good as your information.

154. Angel -

Okay, I need to rant.
I was just watching the news,
and I caught part of a report
on Michael Jackson. As we all know,
Jackson died the other day.
He was an entertainer who performed
for decades. He made millions,
he spent millions, and he did a
lot of things that make him a
villain to many people. I understand
that his death would affect
a lot of people, and I respect
those people who mourn his death,
but that isn't the point of my rant.
Why is it that when ONE man dies,
the whole of America loses their minds
with grief. When a man dies whose only
contribution to the country was to
ENTERTAIN people, the American people
find the need to flock to a memorial
in Hollywood , and even Congress
sees the need to hold a
"moment of silence" for his passing?

Am I missing something here?
ONE man dies, and all of a sudden
he's a freaking martyr because
he entertained us for a few decades?
What about all those SOLDIERS who
have died to give us freedom?
All those Soldiers who,
knowing that they would be
asked to fight in a war, still raised
their hands and swore to
defend the Constitution and the
United States of America .
Where is their moment of silence?
Where are the people flocking to
their graves or memorials and mourning
over them because they made the
ultimate sacrifice?
Why is it when a Soldier dies,
there are more people saying
"good riddence," and
"thank God for IEDs?"
When did this country become
so calloused to the sacrifice
of GOOD MEN and WOMEN,
that they can arbitrarily blow off
their deaths, and instead,
throw themselves into mourning for a
"Pop Icon?"

I think that if they are going to
hold a moment of silence IN CONGRESS
for Michael Jackson,
they need to hold a moment of silence
for every service member killed
in Iraq and Afghanistan .
They need to PUBLICLY recognize every
life that has been lost so that
the American people can live their
callous little lives in the luxury
and freedom that WE,
those that are living and those
that have gone on,
have provided for them.
But, wait, that would take too much
time, because there have been so many
willing to make that sacrifice.
After all, we will never make millions
of dollars.
We will never star in movies,
or write hit songs that the world
will listen too. We only shed
our blood, sweat and tears
so that people can enjoy what they
have..
Sorry if I have offended,
but I needed to say it.
Remember these five words the
next time you think of someone
who is serving in the military;
"So that others may live..."
P.S.- "So that other's
may live.. ." was also the
creed of the
Air Rescue & Recovery Service
during Vietnam & is still today.
