DJ AM Found Dead In New York Apartment

Posted Fri Aug 28, 2009 6:04pm PDT by Billy Johnson, Jr. in Hip-Hop Media Training

Popular party personality DJ AM, Adam Goldstein, was found dead Friday afternoon in his New York apartment, authorities told TMZ.

Reportedly, drug paraphernalia was discovered at the scene.

Sources told TMZ that a friend of the 36-year-old artist called police when DJ AM did not respond to their messages and visits to his home.

The fire department ultimately found his body after entering his residence.

DJ AM's death is a tragic. In September 2008, he and Travis Barker were the sole survivors of a plane crash in Columbia, South Carolina that left four others dead.

I was fortunate to see DJ AM and Travis perform at a DJ Hero event in Los Angeles in June. Performing under their act TRVSDJAM the deejay verses drummer duo opened the event that featured headliners Eminem and Jay-Z.

DJ AM was introduced to the music world via his hip-hop/rock group Crazy Town that released its debut album "The Gift of Game" in 1999. While the band scored a No. 1 hit with its song "Butterfly," DJ AM achieved more notoriety through his solo efforts.

DJ AM quickly became a highly referred deejay to the stars, hosting events for the likes of Jim Carrey, Jennifer Lopez, Ben Stiller, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Ashton Kutcher.

His acclaim also scored his work on albums for Madonna, Will Smith, Babyface and Papa Roach.

In his personal life, he was known for his engagement to socialite Nicole Richie and later dating Mandy Moore.

He has made appearances on "Punk'd," "Entourage," and "The Simple Life."

He joined Kobe Bryant and Mike Epps in a commercial for Kanye West's Nike Air Yeezy.

leave all the negative to the ones who can deal with it because those people arent ready to be helped yet. So keep your head up and pray to the man above for he is worthy.

It's all the same. Drugs, drugs, drugs. I still don't see why people keep using them and then end up dead in their apartments, although there is plenty of awarness about it nowadays.
