Akon Blames It On The Rain

Posted Wed Aug 8, 2007 12:31pm PDT by Billy Johnson, Jr. in Hip-Hop Media Training

Akon's "Sorry, Blame It On Me" video is pretty funny.

He actually wants us to feel sorry for him.

You see, it wasn't his fault that he simulated sex on stage with a 14-year-old girl.

Blame the girl's father. It's his fault that he let his underage daughter out to go clubbin'.

Blame Club Zen for letting the young girl in the 21-and-over club in the first place.

And don't forget Verizon. After the incident in Trinidad the leading telecom company changed its popular slogan to I Bet You Can't Hear Me Now when they pulled the sponsorship plug on Gwen Stefani's Sweet Escape tour which featured Akon as a supporting act.

Some apology.

Man. I can't wait for Paul Mooney's Judge Mooney show to make its debut on BET. I will be submitting this one for trial.

Come on Akon. You have some valid points, but no excuses accepted here. I'll admit that some of these 14-year-old girls can pass for legal age, but the purple Dora The Explorer backpacks should be a dead giveaway.

Can I suggest you make a "Sorry, Blame It On Me (Remix)" for Gwen Stefani? That was her Verizon money that went down the drain.

hmmm...well i don't know...
i like his music && that song, so im probably biased in saying that i think this song is a good way of saying sorry. But to me it seem like he's not really looking for forgivness...i mean he is putting the blame on himself! And its obvious the girl should not have been at that club x

After hearing about the incident i dont see how they can sit there and blame akon. In my eyes its the girls and clubs fault for this whole thing. Yes akon may have acted a little inapropriate by dancing that way with her but that is the only thing i see wrong with what he did. Blame her for even going to the club and the club for not having a better security in place and allowing a minor in. I have more respect for akon now for putting this video out for apologizing for the incident because if you listen to it he's being a man and stepping up to the plate. He's saying to not put the blame of this incident on anyone but to place it on himself. LISTEN TO THE WORDS TO THE SONG..... he's saying not to blame the club/girl/ but to put the blame on akon himself. He's human and will make mistakes just as you yourself have made in the past and he is apologizing to his fans in his own way by singing about it. Takes a big man to go on worldwide video and to take the responsibility and to apoligize like he did. My upmost respect goes to Akon and for what he did with the video.

Well i think Akon is a wonderful singer and he deserve a little justice from his fans and the industry of music. comma 4 real it is not is fault at all, maybe dat 14 years old shouldn't have been in a 21 and older club in the first place . i dont really care watevery they said, i think Akon is a great entertainer, and i 'm a big and supporting fan of him.
