Kanye West And Lady GaGa ‘Fame Kills' Tour Cancelled

Posted Thu Oct 1, 2009 5:53pm PDT by Billy Johnson, Jr. in Hip-Hop Media Training

The Kanye West and Lady GaGa "Fame Kills" tour has been cancelled, concert promoter Live Nation announced Thursday without explanation.

Tickets bought in person will be refunded at point of purchase. Automatic refunds will be applied for those tickets secured online and via phone.

The cancellation of the tour was unexpected, as Lady GaGa was in the midst of conducting press about the show.

In an interview with Big Boy's Neighborhood morning show on Power 106 in Los Angeles, the pop singer discussed the concept of the concert.

Lady GaGa said she and Kanye designed a never-before-seen "transverse" stage that featured a catwalk that spanned the width of the venue.

Lady GaGa added that the concept sought to bring both artists together as she pursued Kanye's fame, and he desired to return home.

Gossip blog MediaTakeOut.com speculated Wednesday that Lady GaGa would be pulling out of the tour, describing it as fallout from the MTV Video Music Awards fiasco.

In September, Kanye received flack for interrupting Taylor Swift's Best Female Award acceptance speech, suggesting that Beyonce was overlooked. Kanye's typical award show antics sparked more media attention than any other aspect of the show, including the Michael Jackson tribute and performances from Jay-Z and Alicia Keys as well as Lady GaGa.

The following night, Kanye offered an apology on The Jay Leno Show and discussed taking a break for the first time since his mother passed away nearly two years ago.

Within a day, the tour dates were no longer listed on the Pollstar.com site. The Los Angeles Times' Pop & Hiss blog questioned whether Kanye would be taking the time off.

Then, representatives for the artists, venue, and promoter declined to confirm the tour.

This is too bad. I was looking forward to seeing this tour.

When it is worried wheather or not it is right of the press to release what they heard the President say about a jackass being just that a jackass. Are they sensoring what we see with our own eyes and trying to make a silk purse out of a sows ear? Everyone is intitled to their opinion, even the President!!!! Just as we are intitled to our opinion about our President and his policies and the debt that these policies will incure for you the young people of the free Nation!!!! Remember people this is America and we are intitled to free speach, it is our right!!! Our people and our press should be reporting it without any spin on it also inorder to give us the ability to think freely!!!!

I do enjoy Kanye's music. But I am an ardent fan of Lady G. As for cancellation of the tour, I rather expected and hoped Kanye would pull out and he did. Kanye needs a little "come-uppance" re: his outlandish behaviour at the VMA's involving Taylor Swift.

At the present time it is a good thing for Lady G to distance herself and her career from Kanye.....for a time anyway. Kanye needs to "man up" and search inside himself in order to resolve his own inner demons.....then hopefully get back on track.

As for Lady G...here's hoping she is able to re-group and her camp is able to re-schedule another concert tour showcasing her many talents. She is truly a very gifted and creative musical artist.

Stop hating on Lady Gaga everyone she's out there doing her own thing just like everyone else, and let the Taylor thing goseriously it's over I understand he did it but come on are we really still on the subject he did something wrong so just let it go it's yesterday's news.

Why would anyone want to see West anyway? The only thing we should be hearing from him are "Order up, come get your burger and fries".......................

I hope Lady Gaga gets out there and tours by herself. I would love to see her, but Kanye can bite me.

These idiots were suppose to come to my hometown in December! Thank god their not!!! Even the radio stations were bashing their upcoming concert!!! The real truth is that since big lip Russell from fat albert(West) opened his mouth and ruined the VMA with his ghetto aZZ,ticket sales are low and none of his concerts are sellouts! Oh well, learn some manners and respect while your career goes in the toliet!!!! As for GAGAGAAGGAGA!! You are a freak anyways!!!

I agree with SheilaM#8, she is right! I wouldn't mind seeing Lady Gaga, love some of her songs. But West, NO! Hope his career goes down the drain with him, yes to what the Prez said for sure.

truth is Kanye's fans didn't want to see Lady Gaga and vice versa.....stop spreading false ish like Kayne couldn't sell out a venue-he still good at what he do even if he's a "jackass"! lol!

This was sort of like the Hole/Marilyn Manson double bill back in 98. BAD IDEA. The fans did not mesh, at all.

Kanye West just can't stop screwing up everything he touches! I love it! What the hell does Lady GaGa need his clumsy ass for anyway??? If she were smart, she would let that jerkoff die from his own hubris and stupidity! God knows , it's a comin'!! I could hope he would get a day job and quit pretending he can sing,...cause he can't!! We'll find him in a few years hangin' out with Vanilla Ice, rememberin' the "good old days.

Fellow Yahoos,

If Kanye West keeps up his childish antics, the fans, and music industry may render him forgotten.

It be it,
Ronin Kannushi.

Now that KW (Krap Wad) doesn't have a chance in hell of touring with Lady Gaga, may I suggest Southeast Oklahoma. We would love to have him come down here. He would be a big hit here. lol
