Toni Braxton Explains Kiss With Trey Songz

Posted Fri Nov 20, 2009 5:24pm PST by Billy Johnson, Jr. in Hip-Hop Media Training

Toni Braxton is back and on a new label. Today, she released the video for "Yesterday," her first single.

The song is a collab with young R&B heartthrob Trey Songz. The two made headlines earlier this month when they performed the track at the Soul Train Awards.

In what appeared to be an impromptu gesture, Toni and Trey embraced and engaged in a passionate lip lock. "There's nothing [going on] with me and Trey," Toni said today in a televised phone interview with host Wendy Williams. "We're just friends. He's cute. He's sexy, and he can sing."

Toni joked that she calls Trey Ashton, and he called her Demi, comparing themselves to celebrity couple Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore. Demi is more than 10 years older than her actor husband.

Teaming with Trey was a good way to re-introduce herself pop audiences. While she still looks great, she has been away for a while. Trey is one of the newer acts on the rise.

Hopefully, their collab with help Toni connect with new fans.

Ironically, there is no romantic chemistry between the two in the video.

I don't think the kiss broke Toni's marriage up. I heard she was getting separated before the kiss even happened. May be she was like "it's over anyway!!... I'm tired of seein' pics! I wanna see the video!
