Beyonce Is One Nasty Boy

Posted Tue Oct 21, 2008 1:13pm PDT by Billy Johnson, Jr. in Hip-Hop Media Training

Man. If Beyonce was a guy, the world would be at a loss.

You don't believe me? Take a look at the way the she fits in the police uniform in her video for "If I Were A Boy," one of the two new videos she recently simultaneously released.

Initially, I was upset when I heard that Beyonce was making a video for "If I Were A Boy." Just two years ago, Ciara released a song called "Like A Boy" which has a similar concept.

The notion of a woman portraying a man is not unique. Hilary Swank won an Oscar for her starring role in the 1999 film Boys Don't Cry. Still, I felt that Beyonce may have taken Ciara's idea.

However, after watching Bey's version, it is clear that she explored a completely different angle.

Both songs challenge the double standards in male and female relationships and suggest "switching the roles."

But Beyonce tackles the topic in what feels like a movie short. I won't spoil it for those who have not already seen the video. But she offers an interesting point of view as she plays a married police officer who appears to be on the brink of adultery with her male partner.

Ciara's "Like A Boy" video takes a simpler approach. She merely dresses up and dances like a guy in a couple scenes.

"If I Were A Boy" and "Like A Boy" are different enough. So I'll call off the instigated cat fight.

While Beyonce has more than enough curves to fill out the blue khaki suit in "If I Were A Boy" clip, she apparently wanted to make sure that no one forgot how bootylicious she looks in her more traditional outfits.

For her "Single Ladies" video, there's not one wardrobe change. It's just B, a one sleeved black leotard, pumps and what appears to be her mega Roc-A-Fella wedding ring from Jay-Z that she flashes for the camera as she sings, "If you like it then you should have put a ring on it."

Let's hope that her female fans don't take her song's advice too literally and start making marriage ultimatums.

beyonce is a high priced stripper she is always naked in her videos and she thinks its cute however it is no different then the tip drill and [profane] poppin video hoes i wish she would have a little more class!

If I Were A Boy was a major low point in entertainment history. I thought, "What the heck happened to Beyonce?!" Single Ladies is a MAJOR improvement. If you buy If I Were A Boy for your iPod, it is a RIPOFF. It STINKS!!

God I see the disgusting trolls have entered the comment section..

Threatened by the return of the Queen perhaps?! Yes u are.

Anywhoo, If I Were A Boy is meaningful ballad by Beyonce that is worth the the dollar at your ITunes store!

4. JustK -
"If I Were A Boy" is beautiful. However that other song sounds to much like another one of her songs, and I cant believe she danced the whole video in a leotard, lol. Stanknezz! but U go girl!

5. Nature -
I liked the movie feel of her video. I liked the surprise move at the end, too.

Do your thing B.

I will say, the black leotard is very revealing, but if I worked out as much as she clearly does - I would be out and about in a one armed black leotard too. Here's a shout out to all the girls at the gym! Work it!

I am a die-hard Beyonce fan...I am not saying that people who dont like her music dont have an opinion. However must we be so negative towards her. If you don't like it don't listen to it. I think she adds class to the videos; her dances are well-choreographed and sexy. It's just a shame that we hate on each other so much

i am not a beyonce fan but however because i do not like her style does not mean myself or others hate on her she does not have any class she does basically the same stripper dance steps and is always showing her body parts and that is because she has no talent of any sort and the small minded males and females that support this needto look at what it is doing to the young and some old women in the world the image of women in america is very degraded not only because of her but countless others too if you are going to put out music for people to enjoy put out something positive less nudeness or the degrading of men or women to conclude without the weave makeup and touchups she is about average and as long as people spend their money and time supportting this they will find themselves living in a false realm

To all the people hating on Beyonce...shut your trap. If anything, Beyonce brings more class, style and creativity to her videos than anyone out there. The girl is only 27,let her flaunt her curves. If anybody should be throwing out negativities it should be to Mariah Carey. Now SHE is a true SKANK. SHE is the one who needs to cover up and take some vocal lessons from a true singer like Beyonce. Her Touch My Body video was the dumbest, cheesiest, most predictable thing I ever saw.

I can c the difference in the songs. Beyonce is very talented. Do the damn thing.

14. SD -
Beyonce is talents. I especially love the If I Were A Boy song but I think some of the others are right. She has a lot of talent and shouldnt reduce herself to looking like a hootch. It's one thing to flaunt what you have and it's another to constantly wear nothing but skin tight outfits and hoochie mama wear. How her mother can be proud to barely clothe that ass is beyond me. Having a great body doesn't mean degrading yourself to nothing but a sex object that allows other to fixate on outside beauty when what should really count is her music and the soul behind it.

15. SD -
I just think that singers should be in it for their love of music not money, vanity or any other perk they might get in the process. Music is more than that and by wearing what she does how can anyone truly take her seriously as an artist and performer?

Guys, Single Ladies was a performance piece, b is a performer... i didnt see anything wrong with it. hell, there was only one scene. and the outfit whatever guys, i thk there are more important things to get upset over and b's costume choice is not one of them. like i said its just a video, and ALL OF US BEYONCE FANS know how B carries herself opposed to how SASHA carries herself.

17. Lynette -
Stop Hating! B is the bomb. She is very talented and God has truly blessed her and her family. I wish her and Jay Z true happiness!

18. Brittany -
Yeah HI HATERS!!! Beyonce is back and better than ever!!! Im so proud of her she killed it. She is 100% woman and class and anyone who things different needs to check themselves. Shes beautiful and talented and I cant wait to see more of her new work because these two new songs are def on my top fav list right now. LOVE YOU BEYONCE!!!

19. Yahoo! Music User -
My goodness how on earth did she dance through the whole video, that girl has stamina !!!
