DMX Adopts Pink Prison Wardrobe

Looks like Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio has come up with the cure for DMX's addiction to jail. The hip-hop star and repeat offender, like all of Arpaio's other inmates in the Maricopa county jail, must wear pink t-shirts, underwear and socks.

The girlie wardrobe colors caught DMX by surprise. "This is ridiculous, this is disrespectful," DMX said with a sarcastic laugh during an interview with My Fox Phoenix. "Why the pink?"

Arpaio told Fox & Friends he has had the pink policy in place for 10 years with success. He said the inmates were stealing the white underwear so he dyed them pink.

According to Arpaio, DMX is serving time for charges of animal cruelty, drugs and fraud. Arpaio did not express any sympathy for the hardcore rapper, adding, that jail was not supposed to be fun.

DMX misses the good ole days. "This is not where I want to be man," DMX said. "It used to be, I'll go there, I'll be the life of the party, and ... it's nothing."

Requiring male prisoners to wear pink undergarments is emasculating, but listening to DMX talk about going to jail as if it is a hangout spot is not fine either.

Maybe Cam'ron can give X a pep talk. Cam'ron and other Harlem MCs have always been fine with the springtime pastel color.

DMX never ceases to amaze me with his ever increasing weirdness. I don't know if it's drug use or a previously hidden mental problem. Either way, despite the amazement, I'm sorry to see him in jail. Again. For something stupid. Again.

It's not a black problem. I see it as a problem with the culture of poverty and entitlement. An ounce Personal responsibility would go a long way. White/black has little to do with it.

I really laughed when Kanye West was mentioned as a threat (I'm willing to bet that this guy is just trying to get y'all mad).

As for DMX, I really have almost no sympathy, and I agree, being in jail isn't hip. Its stupid and a waste of your life.

I love Sheriff Joe Arpaio and commend him for his policies. I've seen e-mails about him and everything he does just makes sense. Way to go Sheriff!

Everybody who has lived one day in AZ the last 10 years KNOWS that they wear pink in jail, and why.

Seriously, he had time to commit crimes here, but never read the paper? Dummy.

Here's a tip, chucklehead - he don't want you there. And if you wearing pink keeps you from coming back? That's good enough for him. And for the rest of us.

Don't break the law and you can wear whatever you want. Maybe a bit of jail time will straighten you out. BTW: It has been studied that pink is a serene color and had worked in the past in jails to keep inmates calm.

There's nothing out there that blacks have done that whites, Asians, Hispanics, etc. aren't also guilty of. That's an ignorant statement to make to say the least. Skin color has nothing to do with crime. I hope that someday you'll see that.

Trash comes in all colors. Statistics would show that minority's have a higher crime rate. But that is because those people are trashy, not because they are a specific race. So if your black, white, mexican, asian, indian. Don't use it as an excuse or explanation, just be a good person. I happen to be white and I grew up in a town where I was the minority and I was put down ALOT. However I have never once done something stupid and tried to use that as an excuse. So if you are hung up over the race card, don't play it just move on!

The pink serves a secondary purpose-its harder than hell to blend in if they escape. DMX thinks jail is easy? Wait 'till the heat hits-Joe's Jail is no laughing matter. He had a chance to use an air-conditioned facility a few years ago-and he made the inmates convert it into an animal shelter. Then he left the prisoners in 120 degree tents. Jail isn't s'posed to be fun-and Joe makes sure it isn't in Maricopa County. DMX, like every other ignorant thug that gets caught in Phoenix, is getting what he deserves. I hope he gets along with Hispanics-they out-number the other ethnic types about 7 to 1.

He said "...used to be, I'll go there, I'll be the life of the party..." emphasis on the USED TO BE. He admits he doesn't want to be in jail. I don't agree with what he has done but I love his music. However, I find it hilarious that he has to wear pink (not that there is anything wrong with that) LOL
