Kidz In The Hall Remake '80s Hip-Hop Classic For Reebok
Advertisers have been getting clever in coming up with ways to promote their products.
Props to Reebok for its new campaign for its Reebok Classic
Remix Collection. This line includes updated versions of the some of the
brand's old school styles.
To make the project compelling, Reebok enlisted credible emerging hip-hop groups to make music videos about the shoes.
Since Reebok is revitalizing old kicks, they've asked the endorsed artists to remix a hip-hop classic.
My boys from Kidz In The Hall are first up with "I Got It
Made (09)," a remake of Special's Ed's 1989 anthem.
I was expecting the Kidz' version to be a straight sample of the original, but instead, the Kidz have come up with a completely new track that incorporates a piece of the memorable humming bass line.
I can't say that the Kidz' smoothed out version is better than Special Ed's Howie T's produced banger, but it's good. It's got me pumped. I also think it would have been nice to have Special Ed make a cameo in the video.
Kid Sister and B.o.B., now known as Bobby Ray, are also on deck to remake songs for this promotion. I need to know what songs they will be remaking, but they are keeping it under wraps for now. Still, this is dope.
Check out Kidz version as well as Special Ed's rendition
from his album, Youngest In Charge,
released when he was 16.
