Eminem's Palin Spoof Condemned By Bill O'Reilly

Posted Thu Apr 9, 2009 4:04pm PDT by Billy Johnson, Jr. in Hip-Hop Media Training

Eminen's new video "We Made You" mocks women who have dominated the news in the last year. Set up as a spoof of the Bret Michaels reality show Rock Of Love, Em pokes fun of Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, Kim Kardashian, Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Aniston, Amy Winehouse, Ellen DeGeneres and Sarah Palin.

Though critics can find fault with all of the portrayals, The O'Reilly Factor host Bill O'Reilly defends just one of the women-Sarah Palin, the Alaska Governor who was the 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate.

O'Reilly, a longtime hip-hop antagonist, calls Eminem's depiction of Palin crude. A Palin lookalike dressed in a low cut bustier and business suit sits atop of an office desk, flirting with a shirtless Eminem posing as Palin's husband.

O'Reilly is upset the media has not condemned Em for the video. "Eminem is obviously on an obscene rant about Sarah Palin," O'Reilly says in Wednesday's broadcast. "Totally obscene. Totally inappropriate. Nothing good about it."

O'Reilly feels that political analysts for Media Matters, The New York Times, Los Angeles Times and NBC should have called Eminem to task for his treatment of Palin.

"The video means nothing," O'Reilly says. "It plays before kids who are confused. But the hypocrisy and the dishonesty of the media does mean something in this country. It is out of control and is demonstrable by this."

I know that O'Reilly dishes politics, is a Palin supporter, and wants to blast other media outlets for letting Eminem's political dig slip through the cracks. It is an interesting perspective. However, if he finds offensive and "crude" Eminem's implication that former beauty queen Palin is a sex symbol, I wonder if O'Reilly only feels that way because she is a politician?

What about the video's insensitive and mocking depictions of Amy Winehouse, Jessica Simpson, Ellen DeGeneres, Kim Kardashian and Lindsay Lohan? Are those okay?

Like it or not, "We Made You" is Eminem's typical satire. In my opinion, Tina Fey's pre-election Palin impressions on Saturday Night Live were much more damaging to Palin's image than this Eminem video.

i reckon, Tina Fey did alot more damage to Palin than Eminem..however i donot agree with video degrading women for wateva reason. And Mr. O'reillly, why only Palin? are you biased again?..typical mr. oreilly, typical!

Do they not understand the simple basic/functions of a satire?

“…objectification of Palin in that video really sends a message about all women, that all women are supposed to be used…”

This isn’t what Eminem’s video is about. Couldn’t another interpretation be that Eminem is satirizing how we as a nation still DO see women as "objects" in the media despite how we say we always don’t?

Eminem isn’t making fun of women; he’s making fun of those who make fun of women, and apparently, the implication of this video was too much for some.

WOW Eminem is the media whore but everytime you turn around it's Bill O'Reilly using the same people for his publicity. I got one for him, when did your opinion become feasable to anything? Just because your on TV we have to listen to you. You are the lowest form of entertainment, crtical of all but perfect yourself? I hope he makes a whole track just for you. You try to use all rappers as a crutch so you have something to complain about, your a bumb.

Bill O'reilly is a complete idiot. Why do people still watch this guy? He has probably never even watched the Eminem video. I doubt he is sitting around watching MTV. I hope bill has a stroke.

88. Moe -

89. Snowdog -
I know I just can't get over it either. That would be like someone getting mad at me saying that in a good wind that got Obama's ears flapping he could fly side by side with Dumbo.

So many of you are small minded and uniformed. I prefer the word ignorant. Maybe someday you will grow out of your mental midget stage. Watch the news, don't just repeat things you hear on MTV. BTW Oreilly is an independent.... But I guess you would have to watch the news...... to know things like that.

91. citrusmac92 -
justwinbabyor66 you are crazy....obama already done more for this country in 2 months than bush did in 8 years .....so at WORST obama would be 2nd worst lol

92. KBear -
You sniveling little liberal punks don't have a shred of decency.
Your entire generation is going straight to hell and you're too stupid to see it.
I guarantee if it had been done to your darling Obama, you would having tantrums and calling for Enema Boy to step down.

Do any of you liberal morons even understand that your defending a rapper that objectifies women. O'reilly wasn't defending Sarah Palin, he was saying that if any liberal gets attacked, the mainstream media immediatley cries foul, but when the tables are turned,.....its always the same, never a word. Why not bring up Hillary in his "raps". Can any of you liberal nuts answer that....thought as much.

94. KAC -
Hey O'Reilly, get over yourself - you mean nothing, same as Palin...

95. Richard -
A tip of the hat to Eminem.

Its a musicians job to piss off stuck up, old, out of touch blow hards like Bill...

Bill O'Reilly needs a life! This is the same joker that laughed when I said oil will go to 80$ a barrel 2 years ago! Children listen to exactly what their parents listen to! Go after the root of the problem the parents. In your era saying the "Fxxx" work was unheard of, now the "F" and "N" word are used by parents! No wonder the kids are confused! Especially listening to you, then hearing it different from their parents. No matter what we do in education, the parents take it back the minute the kids get home! Get a life and get real Bill, leave your little newsroom and go out amoung the regular people the ones making 30K a year and see how the other half live and what they listen to! Disney has movies with songs I would not have hear in the 1960's they would be banned!

Oreily has been the #1 NEWS SHOW ON TV FOR THE PAST 100 MONTHS. To be the best for 100 months means both the left and the right of america are watching and listining to what he has to say. BRAVO OREILY
