Jesus Was A Dreidel Spinner: A Video Contest

  " Jesus was a dreidel spinner"  (MP3, 2:19)

When I was asked, years ago, to sing a Christmas song for my label at the time, Atlantic Records, I decided to write a Hanukkah one, since all we Jewish folk had was that awful Dreidel made out of clay song. Well, the executives didn't go for it. "Jesus Was a Dreidel Spinner" was not going to be their next holiday classic. I guess a corporation full of JEWS didn't deem it appropriate. What war on Christmas? There's a war on the holiday, which can be spelled in two or more ways.

I always wanted to do a video for the song, but never had the means.

So now I am asking you all for help. If there is anyone out there that has the creativity and talent, and wants to try making a kick-ass video for "Jesus Was a Dreidel Spinner" please do it.

There is no money, but the winner/winners or worst one will be on my blog as well as on the Yahoo music homepage. But, what's even better is that it will be featured on the homepage of the hippest Jewish Magazine ever…Heebmagazine.com.

How can you miss this opportunity?

Gentiles also welcome.

Oh, I'm thinking we should have something by Dec. 2nd. What do you think?

Well I'm a gentile and I think it would be ok. After all Jesus was brought up Jewish and celebrated Hanukah. As long as it is done with respect to me and others who believe He is the promised Messiah.

Well Timmy said it was ok so I guess I can do it. Thanks for giving permission Tim.

I wish that I had the skills to make such a video. Oh, I could piece together something with footage stolen from movies, but...

In any case, I wanted to thank you Jill for the show at Largo on Tuesday night. My wife and I attended. We live near Seattle, but she had a conference in Hollywood to attend for work. As Tuesday was my birthday, she felt bad about leaving me behind so I took a mini-holiday and joined her. When I read on your email list that you and Julia were doing the show, I decided that was exactly what I had to do to celebrate my birthday. It was well worth it. We loved it and it was a terrific way to turn 43. You were both charming and sweet. Thank you for making this birthday a memorable experience.

I am still searching for a lawn ornament of Jesus spinning the dreidel for my jewish/Catholic home. Love the song!!! I often tease my husband because we never have a Christmas or Easter Ham at home, that my husband so misses. My reponse is "What would Jesus do"? "He'd pass on the ham"!
