Let's talk!

Posted Fri Oct 19, 2007 11:06am PDT by Jill Sobule in Jill Sobule and The Provocateurs

I am curious as to whom the readers (if any) are rooting for:

Are there Obama fans? Edwards fans?

Are we going to have to eventually put our support behind Hillary?

Are there any Republicans out there?

What do you think of Ron Paul?

Does Giuliani scare you?

Do you think Kucinich has a hot wife?

Let's start talking!

Kucinich definitely has a hot wife.

I'd like to see Obama as president, but will probably end up voting for Hillary because she'll be the best choice left. Ron Paul is a likeable goofball, but he's true to his philosophy. Giuliani should scare everybody! He's a war monger. And, yes, Kucinich's wife is hot.

I am waiting for Al to enter the race. He is the one.

It has been my theory for many years that anyone who COULD get elected, SHOULDNT be (although in full disclosure, I always vote, and when I vote - I always vote blue! Rimshot please). Unfortunately for the country, my theory was adopted by everyone with a brain for the past 2 presidential elections (somehow the red state voters missed the memo, or like our president they just dont read). Who to vote for? I was hoping very early on that Obama would be the nomination, but it looks like we'll have to get behind Hillary eventually or who knows what would happen to this country - the other side of the aisle is either too scary or way to funny to be believable.

My choice is kat swift, a Green Party candidate from San Antonio. But if I had any hope for the Democratic Party as an institution, I'd be working for Kucinich. If Kucinich ran as a Green, where he belongs, he'd be able to make a splash in November.

There are no good candidates on either side of the fence. Where are the brilliant leaders of old who could inspire the throngs?

If you really want to be depressed, just return to the speeches of Washington, or Adams, or Lincoln and read them again.

No one speaks with such eloquence, passion and honesty today.

I blame MTV...

Well, I have to check in as one of your four fans that are registered republicans. I'm not too thrilled about any of the choices right now--on either side of the aisle, but I will definitely vote for NOT Hillary. I wish Mike Bloomberg would run. He's my first choice.

Don't think much of Obama/Edwards, I have been a Republican for a long time, but don't know about being one now, I HATE Hilary, but am not afraid of Guiliani

12. jillpixy -
What is it exactly about Hillary that you hate so much? Curious

13. Josh -
Hey Jilly Sue... I can't fathom why my guy, Joe Biden, doesn't get more play. I think he's the cream of the Dem field... As to the above "hate Hillary" comment, she is polarizing. The Reps can get an easy applause line in a sympathetic room by bashing her; that seems to be the one thing Reps can agree on, is that Hillary is the devil. I don't know why. I do know that recently she has been talking about "another Clinton presidency." Smart. We as a country definitely prefer Clinton presidencies to Bush ones. I guess my dreamw ould be, if Biden was married to Bill Clinton.

14. ibrosey -
Exactly what I was going to ask, Jill. I've been waiting for Hillary for 15 years, since her initial foray into health care got swiftboated into a national laughing stock.

I am dismayed by the knee-jerk gullibility of so many people in this country, and equally dismayed that so many of those who choose to be informed and to think decide either not to vote, or to literally waste their votes on candidates who can only draw from the extremes of either color and turn elections even furthur from their dreams.

I am to preoccupied with our federal election coming up in Australia in 5 weeks time... did you all know that our Prime Minister can stay in power forever if he keeps winning? We've had the same war-mongering, racist homophobe for 11 years! At least yours has an expiry date...

Hey guys, I am playing Largo (LA) tomorrow night. Come down if any of you are in the neighborhood. I will give you all backstage passes.

There is no proper backstage.

17. bugyoume -
I am not going to vote for a Muslim names Obama (bin laden) Hussein, sorry.

18. jlopezclarke -
The worst part about elections for me is that it is always a choice between a little to the left and a little to the right but nothing too extreme, like the change we need. I'm one of those that gets told over and over, "why do you throw your vote away, your candidate won't ever win?" but the last time around I went with the Dem just to get rid of Bush and, well, I guess I threw that one away, too. Now I figure that I may as well throw it in a positive direction if the power structure is so entrenched anyway that "we the people" don't matter much.

19. jlopezclarke -
BTW, Jill, my daughter still wears her "My Bush would make a better President" tee proudly . . . the question now is would Bill's?

20. Dave -
Obama seems alright. Some people put him down for being young, at least young for the office he running for. I think maybe young's alright. Seems like the longer these guys are in office, the more corrupt they become. I guess it doesn't matter as I am against voting Republican OR Democrat. Third party is how I go.
I wonder why anyone would think Gore is the answer. You couldn't ask for a bigger hypocrite.
