Jimmy Page & John Paul Jones: The 2007 Interview

Posted Fri Nov 30, 2007 2:46pm PST by Dave DiMartino in Led Zeppelin's Return Flight

On Friday, Nov. 16th, Y! Music was lucky enough to get an audience with Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones.

In excellent form, both very warm and friendly, the pair detailed the events leading up to the planned Dec. 10th reunion concert and offered their one-of-a-kind perspective on being lifelong members of this very phenomenal band.

We at Y! Music thank Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, and of course their label for making this very exclusive interview possible. We hope you're one of the lucky people who actually get to witness December's performance.

Enjoy!

Ok, my last comment wasn't quite fair - Plant did an album with Alison Krauss that's real decent, called "Raising Sand." So he's still got some chops left, clearly, and some pretty good ones.

Some of these comments leave a tad bit of a sence that * They did not live at a time of Nam, Nixon and the regrouping of the Nations. { Nor the struggles that ALL were going through in numerous ways.
Its About time for this to happen. Not so much for the newer generations to start a fan base, but to rekindle the spirit of the older fan base to liken it to say 1 hour and a half of retro-enjoiment in these updated yet, similar times in a state of the worldly emotions.
When the Youth of today are 30 yrs in passing, they also shall respect thier idol's; and have to refresh history with thier youth. None the better nor wiser. Just a shared excitement of energy and release of a power that can only be summed -up as Yeah This is Kewl.
Now, with standard respect out of the way...
" My gaud! yah know? I just purchased a new Gibson Studio/ Nitro finish and Oooowhhaaaa Is this puppy ever Sing! Todays modeling units are fantastic. Yes yes, thier is still Tube Amps and Older Musicians even thinking about just ferting around again? Oh Yah Gaddah goto YOUR local music establishment and give some a whurl. And the prices HAVENT Changed as everything else has Folks. Its quite economicaly attainable. So, Yah Must if you have had the urges!"
Music today, has adapted to the time as of present. Not to disclaim todays state; but, for Our generation it has lost the attractivness of inspired by the moments. May I offer some insight to US? Some of the music recorded and preformed today IS still in the styles and likeings of both Our's and Our childrens followings/ and remains true to the original causes. I'd list them here, but that would do an injustice to the musical preformers that are yet still up and comming. And I do not wish to have favorites nor disclaim any fresh new inspiration with which spanking-new talent can and shall aquire. Or should I say Inspire. They know whom They are.
To live the stage show of these true iconic artists once again not only will bring back ungaudly memories of days of Our Youth, but it also gives todays fans a chance to see what all the hubbub was and IS about. ( Minus the headtrips and that of others types...) Nuff said about Themz Daze...lol.
And sure...get out the Choaker Chains and old bell-bottoms hand sewn, the blue jean vests, original converse shoes, snot-pocket rags,etc... Why not?
I do hope it is the success that the Band wishess to unfold. And I do wish all those whom desire to Relive and those to Live for the first time, can wittness a wonderful reunion of a truely Great colaboration of Rock Gods in the timeline of Life.
Rock On... Neo~
