KISS: Guitar Hero 5 Fridays on Yahoo! Music

Posted Fri Oct 16, 2009 12:30pm PDT by Martin Dio in Maximum Performance

The phenomenon that is KISS has never not been in the news since their start more than three decades ago ago--but 2009 appears to be taking the famous quartet to entirely new levels.

Just last week, the band nearly topped the charts with Sonic Boom-their first album in 11 years, featuring 2 CDs and a bonus live DVD, and now available exclusively at Walmart for a mere $12. To use famous KISS terminology, sales have been hotter than hell!

Even more significant than those sales, however, is the simple fact that the legendary band has spent the past few months celebrating a stunning 35 years in the music business!

As you can see from the live performances below, original band members Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley and newer members Eric Singer and Tommy Thayer are taking KISS's much-beloved music to glorious new heights. Shot on April 5th in Buenos Aires, Argentina at River Plate Stadium, the performances show an enraptured audience completely enthralled with such classic KISS tracks as "Deuce," "Hotter Than Hell, and "Rock & Roll All Nite."

Longtime fans who've already picked up the new album--as well as newcomers who can't believe the rockin' glory of what they're seeing--will be pleased to note that South America isn't the only continent where KISS have been celebrating their 35th anniversary: The band is currently on tour now in North America, and will be through Dec. 15th. Specific dates and details can be had by going to kissonline.com--but you probably already knew that!

But did you know this? KISS will be releasing a 3-song track pack for Guitar Hero 5 on Nov. 19th--song titles have yet to be disclosed--that, as the band reveals in the interview below, may be the closest anyone can ever get to actually being in KISS!

In the  meantime, the intense rock'n'rolling that has made KISS one of the biggest bands in music history is fully on display for you below. Check it out, check out the interview with the guys themselves, and be prepared to rock alongside Gene, Paul and the boys next month with the Kiss 3-song track pack for Guitar Hero 5! It can be yours for a song!

And now a few words from the boys themselves!

AP
Fri Nov 27, 2009 4:03am PST

AP - Noisy crowds in smoky bars don't bother 96-year-old bluesman Pinetop Perkins. It's all part of his job. Most nights, after he snuffs out his menthol cigarette, Perkins slides onto the piano bench in some club and … More »
