Muse Tell Glenn Beck To Withdraw His Endorsement

Posted Mon Oct 5, 2009 11:24am PDT by Andy Pemberton in Musictoob

Political blowhard Glenn Beck was forced to retract his endorsement of Muse on air, after the rock band complained he was misrepresnting the band's views.

Beck, an outspoken right winger known for his attacks on Barack Obama and willingness to cry on Fox TV, praised a song called "United States Of Eurasia" on Muse's new album The Resistance for warning against the dangers of big government.

"These guys are brilliant, they know the time that we live in, they are libertarians from England," he said on his nationally syndicated talk radio show, The Glenn Beck Program.

"All of the lyrics are... dead on, on what's coming our way."

But a representative of Muse emailed Beck and made him retract his endorsement of their song "United States Of Eurasia."

"They would like me to retract my endorsement," Beck told listeners. "My apologies to Muse for saying that I like them. I didn't mean to destroy all their credibility and all their coolness.

"It's an awful album and you should never go out and buy it."

Muse singer Matt Bellamy has stated publicly that he believes the 9/11 attacks were an "inside job." Glenn Beck made his comments in a broadcast on September 16th this year.

Muse!!! that's awesome... Beck is not who you want backing your "anything" or your "nothing". Beck's a Loser who's afraid of the truth so he fights it with made up, hypothetical stories and lies.

so what Muse? It was free publicity!

9. Cori M -
Everyone has their own interpretation of the song. Who cares if it's exactly what you meant it to be. You got endorsed by a big-time radio host. Any publicity is good publicity. You guys aren't too bright huh? You make him retract his statement because you don't want your music to be associated with politics; and then you turn around and state your liberal views of a "conspiracy." I wonder how many fans you just lost because you're pompous asses.

10. Yahoo! Music User -
thought that you were insightful, just another conspiracy theory...INSIDE JOB? whatever.... You sound like pompous A*******! Shows what you get when you seek political views of bands/actors and other narscicists!

What are the chances that anyone who would stop listening to Muse because Glenn Beck likes them would be watching Glenn Beck to see that?

Wow, I never knew that Yahoo was so liberal. They completely threw Beck's words around. Known for bashing Obama? Beck is a registered democrat!!! But todays democrats are not acfually democratic, thats why he is on a republican show ;) ... but most people are too ignorant to see that, especially "Obama" democrats. Beck has publicly destroyed everyone who is sketchy, including McKain and Bush. They need to get their facts straight.

Hello.... this is old news, and it's wrong news, just thought I should let everyone after me who reads this knows. Glenn Beck lied, you can read about it here

http://www.nme.com/news/muse/47689

Anyway, who cares if Glenn Beck likes it? He's just another fan, another person. Muse are a great band. But, Beck was kind of an idiot lying about that because it made Muse seem petty when they really aren't. They want people to listen to their music.

1.) The article states Glen was "forced" to retract his endorsement of the band. Last I checked no one can tell you which bands your allowed to enjoy.

2.) Secondly, he didn't really retract anything, he mocked the band for taking itself too seriously.

3.) The only "nutjob" out there is anyone who could watch two massive jetliners full of jet fuel fly into the Twin Towers on 9/11 and think that something other than those planes hitting the towers brought them down. The band believes this.

4.) The band sucks, I just checked them out on Youtube and they do in fact suck.

great job Muse. You don't need Glenn whatshisname

Yahoo music listener you are a dumbass how can a band who lead singer you sings like an angle, plays a guitar like no other and plays classic piano suck. I guess all of those sold out concets mean thay suck too right? You need tolisten to better music and not this so called new rock cause that sucks, there's no heart and soul in that.

17. David P -
meh, let's call them both idiots. Glenn, for selling his soul to FOX "News"; and Matthew, for thinking any government with a guy named "Bush" could be intelligent enough to pull an inside job.

18. Jones -
Nice, Muse! Not only was it an excellent show at Georgia, but nice job sticking it to Glenn Beck!

19. Amara -
@tblog: I think calling him a racist could be considered Obama bashing. As he did say Obama was racist against white people.

I'm not a Glenn Beck fan. I don't care what opinion he has about anything- or even what Muse has about 9/11. Who can blame them for not wanting to be associated with Glenn Beck.

20. Yahoo! Music User -
I want to point out to all people here Matt Bellamy of Muse does not believe 9/11 was an inside job! HE does believe though that The administration knew the attack was going to happen and did nothing to stop it.
